Games I nominated that didn't make the 100:

Sid Meier's Civilization II
Spellbreaker
Final Fantasy III
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
A Mind Forever Voyaging

I think only 1 of those is in the top 2.

abanana, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:27 (sixteen years ago) link

er, voted for, not nominated

abanana, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Link fixed (I think):

Games you would have voted for on that ILE poll if they'd been nominated

Z S, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:28 (sixteen years ago) link

A Mind Forever Voyaging is upthread.

Raw Patrick, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:28 (sixteen years ago) link

No way, it's gotta be FF3 and Civ, it's just a matter of what order.

Z S, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Tetris for the victory!

Tuomas, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Final Fantasy VI FTW!

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:30 (sixteen years ago) link

TETRIS IS VERY VERY OVERRATED AND I DON'T TO SEE IT WIN.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:30 (sixteen years ago) link

ugh no sf2 no cred

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh wait, yeah, Tetris is gonna be up there. Wait, that means either FF3 or Civ isn't on the list at all.

Oh come, SF2 sucks donkey balls. Fuck E. Honda and his hundred-hand slap.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not sure how Tetris can be called overrated. It's like calling Checkers overrated. I was watching some webvideo on Tetris recently and one of the people on it correctly noted that in 100 years, it's likely that only Tetris will be around in its original form. It's flawless.

It's a good game don't get me wrong, there's just too much luck involved. How many times have you stacked your blocks all nice and neat but then die because you didn't get a straight Tetris block in time?

Considering how many variations there already are, I doubt this.

here's the original version: http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/69/Tetris.html

abanana, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:38 (sixteen years ago) link

I have never played any of the PC or Amiga games on this list. I really wish I could play Civilization some day.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Plenty, but that just adds another level of strategy to the game. Also, new versions of Tetris that let you see 5 pieces in advance are st00pid because it destroys that element of luck. Admit it, your life is better off because you've yelled "C'MON LONG PIECE, FUCK!" a million times.

Well, of course there are variations on Tetris, but I mean a version will likely still exist with the same gameplay, same basic shapes, same dropping mechanism, same gradually increasing speed, etc. You could add elements like a shop where you can spend 10,000 of your accrued point on a long piece, or you could throw in powerups or something, but it's more likely that the original version will remain the most popular.

Z S, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:42 (sixteen years ago) link

Desert Strike should have been on the list.

OK, let's officially let the bitching begin!

xpost I nominated Jungle Strike, but I guess no one else voted for it.

Z S, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Someone else can turn that into an easily readable top 100 list, I can't be fucked.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 4 May 2008 23:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Desert Strike - so fucking good even the Amiga port was dope
