Women fear and/or resent their aging for different reasons, most of which actually hit before the technical "mid-life" point. Probably closer to around 30.

That is my totally throwing-shit-out-there opinion. Possibly challopy.

I'm 41, probably the right time for a mid-life crisis. I do worry about death more; partly because I don't want to miss "what's next," whatever that is; mostly because I don't want to leave my wife and daughter. I get sad a little more often. I get angry a little faster, too(never with my family; mostly with opposing counsel (not necessarily such a bad thing)).

Also, I've been buying vintage tee-shirts (see a favorite below) and trying to learn to play guitar, bass and piano. But I'm pretty happy, and those are pretty minor vices, as mid-life crises go. Besides, those aren't things found "in every mid-life crisis ever."

I get sad a little more often. I get angry a little faster,

thats exactly the opposite to me.
at 41, i am a lot calmer/happier now than ever before.
i am not sure if i had my crisis a while ago when my head starting opening up buried memories that i had no desire to via some very intense dreams, which put me in a spin for quite a few months.
or, if that was just a minor mental ripple prior to big one thats looming on the horizon.

xp Laurel: I think women are less mid-life crisis-y, and more in a state of semi-constant anxiety from the late 20s on. I think women that are more focused on their bodies have it worse than those who aren't.
