This is either the best or the worst cover ever:

Siegbran (eofor), Monday, 16 December 2002 21:23 (10 years ago) Permalink

Wow...that is bad.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 16 December 2002 21:49 (10 years ago) Permalink

Yes, and I'm an idiot for not buying it when it originally came out. It was released by the notoriously incompetent ripoffs of Lethal Records (ie, extremely hard to find in the first place), and the reissues all have new artwork (my, why could that be?). And unsurprisingly, nobody sells his copy.

Big Black, 'Headache.' I am not gonna go find & post, it is far more repulsive than R Trux. Of course Albini would have to win this one.

I also am a fan of the Smog, but the back photo w/the children's choir is far more weird. Kitty, no !

daria g, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 00:55 (10 years ago) Permalink

You all do get the "joke" behind the Smog cover, right? Kitty in lightening = Cat Power.

Anyway, many of these album covers are pretty terrific in my book -- the Radiohead, SY, Magnetic Fields, and John & Yoko especially.

I posted Kowanko's reworking of Self-Portrait on the Cover Connections VIII thread. That's one of the most garish in my collection.

I really like the New Order cover. In fact, there's a poster of it on my wall...

paul cox (paul cox), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 01:08 (10 years ago) Permalink

Is this really so terrible?

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 01:30 (10 years ago) Permalink

I think they're talking about the limited edition cover that came in a bag.. I don't really care to see that one.

This is pretty indefensible. It's not even particularly well done.

Winslow - that is so classic. Can't believe I forgot that one.

In a way, it sort of brings them full circle back to "Tarkus", no?

Didn't Mayhem once take a photo of their singer's corpse when he shot himself in the head, and use THAT as an album cover? Someone put that one up, I'd like to see that.

Listening to this album today.....and it's great, but really...what an absolute shit cover.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 16:49 (10 years ago) Permalink

I still say it's that fucking NOFX album, which I saw today, inexplicably on prominent display in the Tower on 66th--I mean, why? Why are they displaying like 30 copies of a NOFX album from almost 10 years ago? Am I missing something? Is there a NOFX revival going on? If there is, I'm glad I'm missing it.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 16:51 (10 years ago) Permalink
