It's at its funniest when it's focusing on...anyone else. The good Carell moments now are when he seems halfway human or competent.

horseshoe, how was the play? i'd heard some stories about it, and i'm curious as to how it turned out...

I forgot to watch Hotel Chevalier last night. Although video downloaded from iTunes doesn't play as well as it used to. I fear it has something to do with the 14,000 mp3s I have.

I really liked it. (Passion Play at the Goodman in case anyone's interested.) her name used to be all over the playbills at the student shows I went to in undergrad, and it was kind of cool, because I could see the line of development. I had some criticisms, but mostly I thought it was great and really moving. it is really long, though.

I know how you feel, though, Horseshoe. It's hard to read the Class Notes section of the alumni magazine sometimes. Then I remind myself that the only people who write in are the ones who have something to brag about.

I'd love to go to Danny's tonight but will still be packing, etc. Kr and I might reward ourselves with a beer when we're done for the tonight, but it will probably be someplace walkable.

(they love my car--it's a 1985 honda civic, which contrasts with their luxey cars interestingly)

i was making conversation with my mom at one point after my friend laura visited, and mentioned how disappointing it was for her to know that she couldn't make her living dancing (it would be too much of a strain financially, though it's her first love). my mom's response was that it would be such a waste for her to be in the arts because she's so bright with the summa cum laude and etc whatever and you need to do something challenging for a living when you're smart. arrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhggrrrrrrr.

Like, I was always kind of luke warm on margaritas until I had a Handamandarita. It's just another example of how overcomplicating something can make it totally suck.

Maybe that's why I haven't had one in so long, because I fear that it'll be not-so-good. I don't trust Chicago margaritas. Possibly an unfounded fear.

I love a good rita, though -- it's the colorful, fruity beverage you can drink without looking like a Girl Drink Drunk.

also, how early do you have to check in for domestic flights these days? i know i should check the TSA website but am still half asleep...

I'm in a bad mood, too. My morning already sucks between the swamp heat, my foot hurting, and walking all the way to the train without my wallet and going all the way home again. And being PMSy and so clumsy that when I tried to fan myself with my book this morning, I popped myself in the lip with the hardcover edges.

I have got to find a new job, I hate these people. They bitch and bitch about being "so busy" and having "so much to do", but they are apparently not busy enough to keep them from shooting out the door at 5:00 on the button like a rocket. Meanwhile, I'm working 10-12 hour days to keep up with the workload. Fuck you all.

I'll bring it back by declaring my love for/addiction to 7-11 sausage egg and cheese muffins. Yum.

I had cinnamon toast, the breakfast of champions.

I had a Caribou coffee bar and some vanilla yogurt.

That oatmeal squares cereal, that's what I had.

On Sunday when I didn't have to work, I made a croque madame with gruyere and French sourdough bread and a cafe au lait, and quite frankly my job is not worth getting up early and going through commuting hell and passing up that breakfast.

I am going to make myself pancakes, I think.

i'm waiting for the record store to open so i can sell some records and buy some food. i think it would be cheaper if i just kept smoking because i can't stop eating when i'm off them. i ran out of food yesterday and was eating things that technically are food but really aren't like left over tortillas and cheese or my attempt at making bisuits.

there's a small chance that this apple-scented candle that's on my coffee table won't see the end of the week.

One of my friends was training for a marathon and came home needing a "protein dream", so we splurged on burgers there and it was awesome.

We almost ate brunch at that place on Saturday. We stood in the doorway for a while before moving on.

They have a lot of foreign beers that I had never heard of before, they were in wine bottle sizes and meant to be split among the table.

I had a really delicious beer I can't remember the name of the only time I went there.

I drank the whole thing--oops!

Why does the power go out in the West Loop so much? My predecessor left me a whole set of instructions for what to do after a power failure and said that it happens a lot. And it has twice now. It goes out in a 3 or 4 block area usu. from what the lawyers say.
