That said, I hope Grimes isn't dissected into oblivion by fans and critics alike. She's so damn likable, but even better than that she has interesting songs and you can actually dance to some of them. The ideas behind them are what stick out for me.

It's a concept album by Janelle Monae that came out earlier this year and featured a Grimes guest spot.

Oh. My gut tells me no. A new Grimes album is a big event, I don’t think she’s make it a tie in to someone else’a project.

Sci fi concept album seems like a really different lyrical direction. Art Angels would draw on some sci fi/magical realist imagery—especially kill v maim—but the narrative was fragmentary

This reminds me of industrial nu metal bands like Powerman 5000 or Rob Zombie but with a bridge in her style. I don’t know if I want the whole album to sound like this since I was never a fan of those genres and I suspect it wont but I’m on board.

Powerman 5000… now there's a name I didn't expect to ever see again. While we're at it, I'd add Orgy to the list.

I agree it should shave at least a minute off of it. It doesn’t have enough variation like say kill v maim to justify 6 minutes, the main hook probably repeats in like 70% of the song.
