Houis, Douis or Louis.

Wasn't there some quip about English being just French poorly spoken by Germans? Pronouncing 'Louis' as 'Louie' gives it the lie somewhat.

over the last couple of years i've played a few cricket matches with someone called louis, but pronounced lewis. to his intense annoyance, everyone pronounces his name my way

tbf most famous people called louis are in my camp. the only noteworthy british sleb who does it lewis-style is gymnast louis smith, who's only a sleb for the two months either side of any given olympics

Worked with a Louie Louis, don't think I've ever met a Lewis Louis.

I always thought the city was called St Louie but apparently that's just in the song

It was founded by the French, so arguably everyone has been mispronouncing it for centuries

The Louis in my hometown and St Louis, MO is pronounced Lewis by everyone apart from my late paternal grandparents.

Most of the places in Minnesota named after les voyageurs at least *try* for the French pronunciation.
