I don't think she can ever apologize away her public statement defending her friend that was accused of sexually assaulting an actress that was a minor at the time.

she's upfront about what she thinks are her flaws and limitations. the apologies are a result of her constantly running up against new (to her, i guess, old to the rest of us) limitations

I watched this movie on netflix this weekend that I am learning was called "Literally, Right Before Aaron" because on my netflix it was called "The Wedding Guest" or something. It feels so strange that they are still making these types of movies where the main character is highly unlikeable, neurotic, self absorbed and self sabotages everything. Is this a genre? (bringing it up because it's Dunham's genre).

Better that than more movies about the Avengers

The very fact that this detail was pointed out in the profile as somehow significant or “telling” is symptomatic. America has a weird relationship to Lena Dunham. For some reason people decided they needed to hate her.

People believed that she made up stories about the dog biting her because they hate her for other reasons.

Lena Dunham might have encouraged this but it’s still an uncomfortable dynamic—feels reactionary somehow

if you're saying that by continuing to engage with Dunham material we're all part of her ongoing project, then yes, I agree

I just had to re-review this particular dog issue but it wasn't the biting but that she was embellishing some kind of troubled past for the dog as the reason why she had to give it up. Plus people would side with BARC on this since they have been in the neighborhood forever.

It would likely really really suck to have two nyc artists for parents.

The three standalone episodes that I really love (Hannah daydreaming about a bourgeois future, the creepy writer she interviews, Marnie and her junkie ex) make me pine for a Girls with no Judd Apatow involvement.

She’s definitely a little insufferable but also somewhat talented and charming. Obviously unsuited to be the “face of feminism” but she didn’t ask for that and it mostly seems like conservatives who want to tag her as that. As a face of millennial brooklynites.... idk it kind of fits.

I really don't think it's conservatives fault Lena Dunham became the "face" of anything, liberals have very much pushed that idea. She spoke at the DNC!

Tbf she spoke in the afternoon w a bunch of celebrities like Elizabeth Banks etc it wasn’t exactly a prime time spotlight

Also she shouldn’t be that toxic a property. She said some stuff that wasn’t fully woke, then apologized, I am honestly not willing to cast the first stone here. The garish dresses she would wear during the campaign that said HILLARY all over were pretty funny though, given what a lightning rod of controversy she is.
