This thread got me listening to the song again. I hadn't heard it in years! So classic. I've had it on repeat.

great great song, my band and I are just learning it so we can incorporate it into our set, it's nothing like any of our other stuff though, but I just love it, it makes me smile widely every time I hear it ...

it mentions rumours :

Two kinds of people in this world
winners, losers
I lost my power in this world
because I did not use it
And I go insane
like I always do
And I call your name
She's alot like you

Two kinds of things in this world
living, dying
I lost my power in this world
and the rumours are flying

And I go insane
like I always do
And I call your name
she's alot like you

It's mind-numbingly simple, but hopelessly addictive. and utterly genius. I want it played at my funeral.

I went through a big Lindsey Buckingham kick last year, and started making a two-cd anthology of his best songs, Buckingham/Nicks, Fleetwood Mac and solo stuff. But of course Holiday Road holds a hallowed spot. But those songs of his on Tusk! Oooh!!

What'd your tracklist end up like? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

This song keeps appearing in my head for literally no reason. For the past 15 years. At weekly intervals.

Reading about the WFMU slowed down take of this reminded me of hearing J. Geils' Centerfold slowed way down, also on 'FMU. I just looked it up and the archive is still there, although I can't listen at work. I recommend it though: http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/22839.

What an awesome song! I didn't know Lindsey Buckingham was the guitar player from Fleetwood mac. His solo stuff is just as good if not better than the Fleetwood mac stuff. Why don't people talk more about this guy? He's like the Rodney Dangerfield of musicians. Anyway, great song and great movie.

I lost my copy of Rumours about a year ago - decided today that enough was enough and bought a new CD. Literally the instant I got back into my car I reached under my seat and found the original. I've heard of emergency copies of Tusk before, feel like I'm breaking new ground here.

Ismael... did you buy the standard version or the deluxe reissue? The remastered Rumors is one of the few albums I've ever heard where the remastering makes such a gigantic difference (also, it incorporates Silver Spring into the original running order).

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 20 February 2010 22:18 (fourteen years ago) link

Just the standard version, the remaster was three times the price. But I can't honestly imagine the album sounding any better than it does, so now I'm intrigued. (my original disc seems like it might have acquired a couple of skips from lying about on the floor of my car, so not sure if I'll be returning the new cd or not)
