You might as well wait a little later, right?

So one of my coworkers just sent me an email with about 20 attachments and asked me to print them all out for her, which I did. Then I noticed that the email she forwarded said "Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail." Oh well!

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i dropped my ipod in a snow bank last night! spent five minutes digging around w/bare hands trying to find it.

Jordan, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

Is it ok?

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

it was snowing when i got to michigan ave this morning, just lazy, lake effect stuff, nothing major. also, the museum campus looked pretty cool this morning with the muted sunlight turning the clouds almost silver and CLEAN snow on the ground instead of that grey muck that it will be by the time i get back there tonight.

back to work.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:03 (sixteen years ago) link

seems to be! i pounded the slush out of the jacks and it turned on ok.

Jordan, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link

i love winter. i love it so very much.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Help me out here -
I've had this ideal restaurant in mind for some time - it's super cozy, w/ booths and lots dark, warm lighting, maybe a fireplace, yummy food, not too pricey or fancy. Any place fit this description?

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link

moody's minus the food

La Lechera, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Been to the Third Coast on Dearborn/Goethe? Heh, I was thinking Moody's too.

Eazy, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

IT IS SNOWING SO MUCH AND I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY

VIOLENTLY HAPPY

LIKE BJORK

WHO IS FROM ICELAND

WHERE IT SNOWS

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link

actually i don't hate moody's food but it's merely ok

if they served kuma's-like food at moody's i would be there ALL THE G-D TIME. and i would be fat.

La Lechera, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Third Coast you say? I will check that out.

I thought Moody's was just a bar.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:31 (sixteen years ago) link

They're known for their burgers.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Define "pricey or fancy."

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:32 (sixteen years ago) link

nope
they have foods
just not fancy foods
i do appreciate the pickle with every sandwich

*their burgers are merely ok

La Lechera, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Entrees around $12-15-ish? Can be fancy, I dunno. I want peasant food. Which is sort of fancy, I guess, but in a self-effacing way.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Wait, Eric, you beat me in that Scrabulous game? My two-steps-ahead plan failed miserably: I played POT (10 points) instead of WET (12 points) because it would allow me to then play PEW (16 points). I keep forgetting that the game is over as soon as the first person uses up all of their tiles. :(

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:38 (sixteen years ago) link

Red Rooster is really cozy and warm. Entrees are like $11-$17. No booths, though.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:39 (sixteen years ago) link

http://chicagoburgerproject.blogspot.com/2007/06/moodys-pub_04.html

"Thus, disclosure: Moody's inspires a sentimentality in me that few other restaurants could...it's pretty much idiosychracy-themed restaurant, or a vision of what "family dining" would look like if Arthur Treacher had been able to outlast TGI Friday's. The building itself looks like some kind of conceptual Levittown Elks lodge. The dining room is almost unimaginably dark, crammed full of heavy wood tables and chairs. There are fireplaces in several corners that remain operational year-round, and everything is covered with a patina thirty years of aerosolized beef fat.* A massive multi-tiered beer garden/patio provides the corresponding yang, picnic tables shaded by a picturesque tree canopy. In a word: marvelous. Summer, Chicago, and Moody's beer garden are inextricbibly intertwined."

Jordan, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:47 (sixteen years ago) link

it's snowing in big, wet, vision-obscuring, fuck you mr. pedestrian flakes in hyde park.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 18:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Restaurant websites too often don't give an indication of atmosphere. I want atmosphere, gd it.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:00 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh. Rosebud looks nice.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:02 (sixteen years ago) link

i'm so excited about the snow. i need to go buy boots. also, i wish they didn't use salt. it would be nice to take my skis out of the closet.

sisut, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:05 (sixteen years ago) link

You could easily go skiing in Humboldt Park.

Rosebud is pretty alright, though I've only been to the one on Rush. Northside grill might fit your needs, too, except it's in The Crotch.

dan m, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:10 (sixteen years ago) link

You and Katie and your Westside-centrism.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

If I had a car I might consider some of the stuff out there. But I don't have a car b/c I don't need one. Because I don't live on the West side.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

/needless needling

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Did I not just suggest a place called "Northside"? I can't be held responsible for their inappropriate name/location issues.

dan m, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

The blue line stopped very suddenly today and a standing woman slipped and fell flat on her front w/out even putting her hands out in front of her. It was bad.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:27 (sixteen years ago) link

I know it's cold, but I would have found it a little funny... Like when people aren't paying attention and they lean on the old doors that open inwards and then get mauled when the train stops.

dan m, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Are those doors on any other trains besides the Blue Line? I don't like them.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:38 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, it is a bad idea to drive to the crotch anyway. Traffic SUCKS around there.

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:40 (sixteen years ago) link

To reiterate, traffic sucks at the crotch.

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry.

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 19:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Ay ay ay. We can't leave that hanging there! Come on!

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link

haha ok.

I'm just saying that that's the only decent way to get over there. There are cabs of course. But those are for rich white people.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:19 (sixteen years ago) link

There are buses for Damen, North, and Milwaukee. Also, the Blue Line.

dan m, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:22 (sixteen years ago) link

No good.

I would have to take a bus to Damen.

Also? I would have to take a bus.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Ride your "Red" line to North, take the bus west. It's fast. I have done it.

dan m, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link

just go to moody's, dammit!
it's nearby, it's cozy and the food is adequate!
that's right: adequate!

La Lechera, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm just scared.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link

I think we're going to Bin 36.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Wine + Cheese = uh-huh.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I like wine.

Also, I like this ALOT:

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:28 (sixteen years ago) link

That reminds me, I saw a bottle of Sizzurp at a liquor store recently. I thought that they discontinued that shit.

dan m, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:34 (sixteen years ago) link

never heard of it.

Jesse, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Me neither. Not outside of hip-hop slang, at least.

jaymc, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:52 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought it was cough syrup or some mix involving it.

KitCat, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:56 (sixteen years ago) link
