Again, standard authoritarian practice: ignore all and any history or its context that you can't bend to your purpose, endlessly defend your leaders and viciously attack anyone who dares question them, UNTIL they don't do something rightwing enough for you, then cast them aside and stomp on them as soon as possible.

WTF on the malaria one:
1) DDT is HARDLY the only insecticide used for killing mosquitoes and I feel comfortable in saying that even IF one were to discount the environmental issues inherent in the use of DDT, it's not even the most effective available insecticide currently in use. 2) Is this guy suggesting that we should be giving more support to countries in which malaria is rampant? If so, why not say it in a less oblique fashion? Or is he strawmanning mass death by disease in order to back up a poorly thought out anti-environmental talking point? 3) Batshit rightwing cartoonist guy, are you ACTUALLY arguing against bald eagles and for DDT? Really? 4) So DDT and/or chemicals with a similar makeup are not being used in outside the US at all, huh? And there are bald eagles in countries with rampant malarial infection, huh? 5) STOP JUST STOP JUST STOP

the malaria/ddt thing is a pretty widespread rightwing talking point. for example and its counter

I like this one because, if you think about it for more than a half a second, it actually pretty elequently makes the exact opposite point (I assume) it's trying to make.
The people are a bully with a short attention span and a distrust of anything complex, so he comes over and knocks down something that two kids, usually sworn enimies, have spent a lot of time working together to build, and something that might well have been pretty cool.
