Is Paul Hunter the guy who always goes on about shagging his girlfriend in the mid-session breaks?

(xpost - that "biting off his tip" made me laugh a bit. New relaxed therapied Ronnie seemed to not care at all that he lost)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 8 February 2004 23:50 (twenty years ago) link

a helluva mutha of a match

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 8 February 2004 23:52 (twenty years ago) link

He looks like N. had N. been at the peroxide.

(he has just made a reference to shagging his woman)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 8 February 2004 23:53 (twenty years ago) link

haha well the first time he won this (against fergal o'brien) he was 6-2 behind in the break and he did let out post-match interview that his manager allowed his gf in the dressing room in the break (he won that match 10-9). I'm not sure whether they did it again today, think he was joking this time because he didn't play badly, just that ronnie was perfect in that first session (paul hunter won those two frames with century breaks).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 8 February 2004 23:58 (twenty years ago) link

two months pass...
revive!

Go on ronnie!!! He's just won the first four frames of the second session in 42 mins (he so totally deserves to be called 'the rocket').

two eighty breaks and a century and he's 10-2 up.

I wish i was at home watching this :(

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 30 April 2004 13:45 (nineteen years ago) link

I wish I was home tomorrow to keep watching this.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 30 April 2004 20:54 (nineteen years ago) link

Real pleasures of watching snooker revealed:

Heh heh heh.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:08 (nineteen years ago) link

john parrot gets bitterer every year! i'm lovin dott's spoiler style, a final with him and ronnie might be fascinating. alternatively dott might get utterly blown away but hey

prima fassy (mwah), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:36 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott'd be that much of an outsider that maybe... just, maybe...

And why has Dominic Dale suddenly vanished from the commentary team? Dennis Taylor is starting to irk me a bit...

Worst thing about Parrott - his tips segment, where he teaches Stan Boardman to play snooker. Fucking hell.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 30 April 2004 21:40 (nineteen years ago) link

dott has a small throat.

'when I won the championship back in 1991...'

come on hendry.

YEAH I SAID IT.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 1 May 2004 06:18 (nineteen years ago) link

dennis taylor + john parrott are ok.

john virgo must die. he'd whinge even if he goes to heaven "ooh that's not that cloud i'd put myself on.."

ian mccolloch should have won, or david gray.

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 1 May 2004 07:25 (nineteen years ago) link

o'sullivan just finished hendry off 17-4. I quite like to see Dott in the final but it may not matter who gets there.

O'sullivan has rarely got it consistently together, playing to his full potential as he has in the last two rounds, blowing away anthony hamilton and hendry with a session to spare.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 1 May 2004 10:02 (nineteen years ago) link

: (

this boy's good.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 1 May 2004 11:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Does anyone else think Hazel Irvine the finest woman on Earth?

Not Steve Davis, Saturday, 1 May 2004 13:02 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh, for crying out loud, Dott-Stevens just went off the air at 16-15 with just four balls left on the table and an immense safety battle developing in frame 32. I was watching the live coverage on BBCi (ch701 on Freeview) when a message appeared "This interactive service is coming to an end, press [TEXT] to exit." WTF?! They'd never do this on a main analogue channel. I note the BBC website also appears to be down.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Saturday, 1 May 2004 15:51 (nineteen years ago) link

The BBC website isn't down any more.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 1 May 2004 15:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Apparently Dott won 17-15 - after "an exchange of unbelievably tense safety" according to the now-reachable BBC website.

After a laborious registration procedure I'm about to leave a Why Oh Why complaints on the Points Of View messageboard - in that curly electric typewriter font.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Saturday, 1 May 2004 16:05 (nineteen years ago) link

It's on Eurosport. But it must be on some time delay thing, as it's just at the start of the 32nd frame.

(x-post cheers Mike, I'm watching on Europsport)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 1 May 2004 16:06 (nineteen years ago) link

(I'm sorry, Ailsa, it didn't occur to me that anyone other than the BBC was covering this.)

I was jumping the gun by claiming I was registered on the BBC website - despite doing precisely what they required I'm not registered. I requested a resend of their confirmation email and didn't get it. This is a very good way of intensifying but broadening miffed viewers' rage and ultimately getting them to give up. What a waste of 20 minutes of my life.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Saturday, 1 May 2004 16:15 (nineteen years ago) link

I keep reading this thread as "smoker world championship final" and that does not compute.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Saturday, 1 May 2004 16:17 (nineteen years ago) link

Microdott is 3-0 up! Ronnie does not look happy.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:01 (nineteen years ago) link

4-0!

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:16 (nineteen years ago) link

!!!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Apparently that scoreline was 66-1 yesterday evening...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:35 (nineteen years ago) link

This is rapidly acquiring an aura of unreality. Dott has now scored 300 points with no reply from Ronnie.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:53 (nineteen years ago) link

5-0! Ronnie just failed to return to the table in a one snooker required situation.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Horrid thought - he's not trying to give him a head start, is he?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 2 May 2004 15:00 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, normal service has suddenly resumed. Solid 100, and he is doing a lot of left handed stuff. 5-1.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 15:06 (nineteen years ago) link

AAARGH I need to get digital telly! Bloody Young Musician Of The Year, grrr.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

5-3, last time I heard. :( come on dott!!!!

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 2 May 2004 17:11 (nineteen years ago) link

5-4 now. Dott's at the table, looking a little twitchy, but holding it together nicely.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 18:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm starting to feel one of the great embassy emotions: anguish.

come on dott!

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 2 May 2004 19:21 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't think Dott believes he can win. *I* don't believe he can, Ronnie looks that much more comfortable at the table. Every significant break Dott's made has been so painstakingly constructed, whereas O'Sullivan's been almost casual at times. And yet we're still at seven all.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:30 (nineteen years ago) link

7-8 now, to O'Sullivan. Bollocks.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:37 (nineteen years ago) link

*curses below breath; wonders whether it's live on eurosport right now*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:42 (nineteen years ago) link

...mwoah, man o'mullivann maketh it 9-7 now. dang.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:49 (nineteen years ago) link

End of session. 7-9 to O'Sullivan the pantsmonger.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Why are the BBC showing me Nicky Campbell and that c#nt from Fame Academy?

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Are you sure it's not the Spice Channel?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Peeps, get ready, frame seventeen to commence soonish!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 13:04 (nineteen years ago) link

12-8 to pantsmonger. Start of the second half of the afternoon session. Would have been 11-9, if it weren't for a bit of atrocious luck in the last frame before the midsession break. Dott got a bad contact while belting a pivotal black, which then shuddered in the jaws, leapt out, travelled a good two feet along the top of the cushion and fell to the floor.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 14:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeh, that black was a bad mofunk-up-ah. And it wasn't, unfortunately, the only one of those crucial mistakes after which O'Mullivann came to the table and won the frame.

13-8 looks a bit grim for Dott.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott really has to get this one, or he's looking at having to win 2/3rds of the remaining frames. O'Sullivan's just had a bastard kick, so Dott's got a chance.

Which he's fluffed.

Bugger.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Yep. Almost a pattern there.

Aargh... Dott didn't get that red now, either!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

He got THAT one though!

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

Vow. Now that Dott-black was a goodie! :)

And then... ...

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:16 (nineteen years ago) link

... it's O'Mullivann time again.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott's century to win his only frame of the day was heroic in the circumstances. 8-14, though...Hendry beat White from this position in '92. Worth a fiver, surely.
