None whatsoever. No reason to hang out at beach after dark anyway. Keep me posted!

The middle Keys are in rough shape, according to a reporter friend who visited for a story two weeks ago.

Let me know when you're around and we'll grab a drink.

Will be there with the fam the 18-24.

1) Anything interesting going on art or music-wise?

2) Any highly recommended eats?

3) Any good low-key (non-velvet-ropey) dance spots? Wife and I will have free babysitting from my folks and want to go out.

hey alfred, that was quick, had a feeling this bump would summon you

I can recommend a place in Normandy Isle: Rouge, a French-Moroccan joint with a lovely back patio. A couple miles south is the Broken Shaker, a hip cocktail joint in a hostel surprisingly good about its craft shit.

those both sound promising. We ate at Cleo last time and were pretty impressed.

two weeks pass...

One more full day before we go home. Have had a nice stay, got ourselves an apt in North Beach which is less stylish but still has good vibes and a lot of solid Latin American food. Had good Cuban at Las Vegas, a nice lunch at Michaels Genuine Food & Drink in Wynwood and a good but kind of overblown dinner at Kyu, also in Wynwood. Very sceney sort of restaurant with a little too much schtick. Also got to see the De La Cruz collection and gave H some time on her own to see more art while I took the kids to the seaquarium, which was fairly nice. Oh and we hung out at Wood after Kyu where we were about ten years too old and too well dressed from our dinner but there was a good hip hop DJ. Almost made it to Broken Shaker tonight but H got sick. Great weather and we have a balcony where you can see both the beach and the bay, where I’m sitting now.

Paging Miami (Alfred et al.): what is Miami like around Christmas time, weather and whatnot? And how is Miami as a family (with teens) destination?

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 15 June 2019 15:13 (four years ago) link

You may get a night or two in the high fifties, but this has been increasingly rare. Except comfortably warm weather (highs in the 80s).

What with Wynwood and the Perez Art Museum we've got plenty of things for the kiddos.

eight months pass...

Since we've been ordered to work from wherever isn't our office, spouse and I are planning to do 4ish nights in MIAMI this week or next. Alfred, will you be around? Recs for a cool hotel with excellent pool?

I have never been to MIAMI. Well maybe as a child but I do not remember it.
