Covfefe the Strong / the Wizard Covfefe was funny

yeah tbf this was funny. an entire day of gloating and celebration like as if it's some national festival - that was unfunny. but i guess we should give up expecting the liberal half of twitter not to feverishly promote and boost the range of the figures we're all supposed to hate.

It went without mention here, but that Onion leak of some 200+ documents does hide a few gems. I liked the running joke in the Steve Bannon and Ben Carson files.

Old Lunch I 100% agree with your assessment. I think Kal Penn's thing where he imagines Bannon, Kishner and Spicer playing "not it" over who gets to tell Trump he passed out during a tweet is almost exactly what happened, albeit with several more staffers also abdicating responsibility.

I think that tweet tells us a lot. It didn't stand for 5 hours because Trump got interrupted by his advisors during a crisis or because someone took his phone away. And it's disturbing not only because of the garbled letters, but because it's also an incomplete thought. I guess you could argue that he's suffering from jet lag or extreme exhaustion, but on a level where he can't even finish a tweet before nodding off? Do we have to start worrying about Alzheimer's? Even if it's just carelessness it's pretty extreme. Whatever it is, it's fucked up

god yeah, this piece really bothered me. it's just a series of faintly literary insults - and it went on and on. it's also incredibly pompous, as if the author has never been anything other than self-aware at all times. some of the "obliviousness" it describes is just the basic human condition.

One other thing to add to the covfefe hypothesis: if his wife was actually around, she could have noticed him nodding off and told him to put the goddamn phone down. But she hates his fucking guts.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 16:21 (six years ago) link

This this this. I'm in fucking Basque Country and it got mentioned today. Had to look up what the fuss was about. Trump being 'Oh! I made a spelling eros, see whut I did dere' as the least funny person in the world makes this even more unbearable.

'And you know what? Here comes the KICKER!!!!'
'Whatwhatwhatwhattttt????'
'He made a spelling mistake!'
'You are jo-king! He did?!'
'He did. In a tweet. POTUS made a spelling error. In a tweet.'
'Oh. My. God. Hahahahahaha. I'm snapchatting it right now.'
'Hahahaha!'
'Hahahahaha!'

^^ Some severe normalization of the last person deserving normalization right there.

I don't know, writing that tweet off as "he spelled wrong give the guy a break" seems like another big step toward new normal for standards of Presidential communication.

But maybe by surrendering burdensome "leader of the free world" role, the office can just move straight into memes and fart soundz-only

It's not like that tweet mattered in any way, but characterizing it as just a spelling error or a typo seems kind of weird. Insert any correctly spelled word in place of "covfefe" and the tweet would still be totally incoherent and meaningless.

You're right, she can never be wrong about anything because of her most famous work, and in fact all her opinions are valid because of her gender, great she has people to intervene and stop her being patronised.
