Ain't Nobody may be one of the best songs ever made but I love a lot of the rufus with chaka khan stuff, Love watching those old soul train clips on youtube. What a great program.

Just noticed that on Spotify the tracks (all but one) on the first two Chaka Khan albums are now credited to a 'Lew Hahn' as well. Turns out he was an additional recording engineer on the Chaka album, who also did remixing for it, and is credited for recording and mixing on Naughty (on Discogs, not on the original album sleeve, fairly or unfairly). In other words, he didn’t even write, produce or play on any of the tracks. But every time songs like “I’m Every Woman” or “Clouds” are streamed (including when it’s from some compilation), it’s not just added to Chaka’s tally but to his as well. That seems like some bullshit. Anyone know what this is about? Is it related to the equal billing producers now get for remixes they make for tracks by other artists (which is fair), and did this guy jump retroactively on this opportunity or something?

Spotify has a whole lot of bad tagging and I'd guess this is some of that.

Dang! As far as legacy artists making vital contemporary music goes, most of them do a worse job than Chaka does here. This song is HAWT

I’m working on a Joni Mitchell project right now, who’s a great friend. I have her blessing. I’m doing my favorite songs of Joni’s. Not her hits — the songs that have kept me alive on tour. When I’m on the bus, I always put on Joni Mitchell. She would revive me, in a big way — the music, the things she said, the philosopher in her. She’s my favorite writer, singer-songwriter. I don’t even remember when I first met her; it’s been a while.[/i]

her new album is very solid front to back. for pursuing such a defined aesthetic it actually thoughtfully covers quite a bit of ground sonically + naturally her vocals are great

Her new album is solid and she blew the crowd away at Pitchfork last July. Don't think anyone expected that performance to be other than tepid yawn-legacy-act.
