I have a theory that after Nowell died, the rest of the band bumped into Colin Meloy and The Decemberists were born

i do not possibly see where such a connection would come from, but ok. i mean, Meloy is the most horrible thing about The Decemberists, his backing band is p talented. much more so than the Sublime jokers.

While we're making tenuous comparison points, I'm just going to bring up Arrested Development, who also briefly captured the culture's imagination with warm vibes, profundities about the beauty and brevity of life, and questionable if well-intentioned politics, now mostly inspiring "HA NINETIES WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT" reflection.
