hahaha, i was so busy looking forward to the fallout from pence's pardon that i didn't even think about the idea that trump could pardon him right now. boy, that would fuck things right up, wouldn't it? i wonder if he's thinking right now "well, i can just pardon myself, right?"

This said, given the increasing scrutiny and interest, kinda hard for me to imagine they'll let him skate.

re: Chaffetz: he came in as basically a proto-Tea-Party guy in 2008, primarying a well-established Republican incumbent by running to his right. His district also went for Trump in 2016 by 47% (McMullin got 24, Clinton 23). Can't imagine a place like that is going to cough up anybody much better, but maybe things have chilled out slightly. Bizarrely, Utah has no procedure on the books for filling a vacated Congressional seat, and there are different plans being thrown around.

i don't know about that, but i think it says something that i'm trying to imagine what it would be like to have a fermented bean curd as president and how it would stack up to trump. because i will say i think it would be easier for republicans to defend having a fermented bean curd as president than it is for them to defend trump.
