Endured an Alan Partdige soundalike and Schteve McL on 5live to witness this. Excellent stuff.

I am too stoned to comment right now

trolling the Express and Star has become irresistible tbh

hope you're going to Wembley calzino

The Remoans of the May (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 18 May 2017 08:40 (six years ago) link

I'm definitely going, we have won all playoff finals at old/new Wembley/Cardiff that I went to. The only complete dud was the final at Old Trafford against Posh, but I watched that one int pub.

Quaner gets so much unfair stick, he was a game-changer last night and made Rhodes look like an overpaid amateur. I fucking love alcohol fuelled Wembley trips.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 09:56 (six years ago) link

Forestieri had gotten so used to scoring against us he thought his tame effort would suffice, oh no!

"Endured an Alan Partdige soundalike and Schteve McL on 5live to witness this"

Sadly, our chairman is probably about to employ Schteve as the next director of football/stalking horse for the manger's job type wasteman. Not particularly sure Wagner will remain in the UK whether we go up or not - whatever the case ultimate legend status is assured forever at this point.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:09 (six years ago) link

On the radio Schteeve made a particular point of saying he wasn't interested in any Director of Football role, at HTFC or elsewhere, that he was a coach and a manager and that he couldn't wait to get back to that and a DoF was years away for him. ALso that yes he has been to see HTFC quite a lot but that he lives nearby and the games are always exciting, plus Wagner's tactics are interesting and he wants to understand them better.

I took that to mean that he considers himself suited, ready and willing to step in as Manager at Huddersfield if and when Wagner leaves.

Tim, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:14 (six years ago) link

I am actually rather nervous about this evening's torture.

Tim, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:14 (six years ago) link

that is the only way to feel before playoff games, because of course they can go so wrong and bring much more despair or elation than ordinary wins/defeats. GL Exeter, will be watching an acestream of the game later when the hangover has worn off.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:21 (six years ago) link

GL with the hangover. I must try to keep my drinking manageable this evening, Monday was a horror.

Wagner wouldn't like a shot at the PL if you progress? He's done great; would seem odd for him to back out (are there other reasons, family etc?).

Prospect of Schteve at Terriers is humbling; you can't ever be too comfortable or happy a fan. Danger looming around the corner is part of football's nasty deal iirc.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 18 May 2017 11:14 (six years ago) link

xp
inspired substitution of the season was that, but Quaner is probably about 6 inches taller than Henry and is thin as a lat! He isn't a fan of having high balls lumped into the box either, which is unforgivable for such a tall player according to some of our eejit fans.

Wagner is currently living away from his family in Germany and has no intention of uprooting his teenage daughter from her school, even for a shot at the prem. Obv with his rep enhanced times a thousand at the moment, there will be a shitload of Bundesliga giants that will take him in a shot. Yeah, Schteve would be such a retrogressive step back to the mediocre old days of A Nother wasteman/pretender stealing a wage.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 11:26 (six years ago) link

Haha I read that as "a Northern wasteman" which would have been a surprising tack for you to take.

Tim, Thursday, 18 May 2017 13:13 (six years ago) link

it would an appropriate epithet for loads of our ex-managers though, tbh.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 13:33 (six years ago) link

nice one Exeter! I didn't feel like watching e/t + another pen shootout tbh.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 20:45 (six years ago) link

good luck hudds and exeter in the finals

but above all,

good luck bradford

imago, Thursday, 18 May 2017 21:45 (six years ago) link

definitely yeah. I don't like Bradford with below us status, would much prefer getting back to the business of hating them!

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 21:58 (six years ago) link

I don't suppose I'll ever enjoy watching a game with n the pub as much. The place we were in had maybe 50 Carlisle and 20 Exeter fans, but the way the game went made it amazing, they were giving us some when they equalized but they had to eat it all back up off the floor.

I may be in my cups.

he looks like he is bracing himself for that next wave of Greek austerity measures, hold in their pal I can lend you a five-spot for the leccy tokens!

calzino, Friday, 19 May 2017 16:28 (six years ago) link

There was a piece on Radio 4 this morning about Portsmouth's possible sale from supporter ownership to some ex-Disney dude. Classic bit in which Barry Hearn said he thought Pompey should bite the hand off this "investor", seconds later he was talking about how he had thought the bloke he sold Orient to was exactly the right buyer. Hmmmm....

In other news, this morning I felt very buzzy and excited after last night; this afternoon's experience suggests that actually I was still just drunk.

Tim, Friday, 19 May 2017 16:37 (six years ago) link

I'm glad they are turning R4 into talksport because it couldn't get much worse at the moment anyway. It is funny how so much of the population that seem think national austerity is just what we need guv. But as soon as some rich sociopath turns up at their club with promises of arms race style wasting of millions they are like "bite their hand off!".

The last time I went to Wembley I packed a thermos flask full of red wine and a pop bottle full of courvoisier for on the coach. Not much chance of getting a hangover with the £5+ pints of watery lager at Wembley, and I'm going by 2012 prices there.

calzino, Friday, 19 May 2017 19:25 (six years ago) link

Sounds like a plan, I remember going to Wembley as a kid in the 80s and my dad having an eppy when somebody tried to charge him a quid for a can of pop

The Remoans of the May (Noodle Vague), Friday, 19 May 2017 20:15 (six years ago) link

They hadn't put the prices up by last year, although they did have some sort of weird system in place to try and stop you buying multiple drinks at once.

enjoying the l1 final

you'll never believe it but it's why yes finely poised exactly how did u know

wall have yet to take john sitton's classic advice and bring on fred onyedinma (who qpr are signing on a free after this game supposedly)

bugger. white feather morison 1-0. but bradford faded out badly since i last typed

the full pitch invasion and Neil Harris telling a thug to fuck off was quite amusing.

The Remoans of the May (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 25 May 2017 11:34 (six years ago) link

he never stays anywhere too long does Webber. Overrated huckster who made some good decisions and made some bad, now he is just repeating the formula - albeit on massiver wages!

calzino, Thursday, 25 May 2017 12:54 (six years ago) link

got to say though, bullshit merchant or not Wagner and VLP were great acquisitions, but Wagner's own signings have been great value as well.

When your brand has been tainted so much so, you have to struggle that much harder to distinguish yourself from the morass of troglodytes R us. Although the Brum owners haven't read this memo yet.

Lol! speak of the devil!

calzino, Thursday, 25 May 2017 13:31 (six years ago) link

local coverage on the next Leeds manager will supersede lil old us, even if we get promoted to the prem on monday. We have to do it just rub some manure all over those bitter Whites involved with local BBC.

There is something very UKIP about Monk's attitude and mannerisms that really grinds my gears, but getting into the politics of footballers/managers is a probably a complete waste of energy.

I just found out my step-dad has booked a train for the monday Wembley trip, beautiful - I won't even need to hide my booze.

calzino, Thursday, 25 May 2017 17:34 (six years ago) link

I'm jealous - I'll be in Norwich pretending to be an artist until Sunday then will be dashing down without enough time spare to ensure I remember nothing at all about the day out at Wembles.

Tim, Thursday, 25 May 2017 17:48 (six years ago) link

The security goons at Wembley seemed a bit keen last time, one of them accused me of being too drunk which was only about half right. I am going have a good drink but maybe a bit less than last time. It sounds like taking any bags is a no as well, wouldn't even be sure if you could leave one in a locker at Victoria station atm. Probably travelling light will be the order of the day.
