Telephones - DTMF (Call Super Remix). Skippy house with a breakdown of shimmering chords, warped string pads and what sounds like a muted sample of a lorry reversing.
― boxedjoy,
I will second the love for that Call Super remix. Has all the right ingredients for me.

I'm really shook by the sudden death of Marcus Kaye / Trevino. I'm not really a DnB guy, so can't talk to his Marcus Intalex stuff, but I sincerely think he was behind a lot of the most exciting techno I'd heard in the 2010s ("Backtracking" for instance, is one of my favourite recent techno tracks), and was looking forward to the second part of his Front/Back album.
Anyways, very sad. R.I.P.

RIP Intalex. True to the craft for all his days. Torn up.

Both of the Vlad Caia mixes of this are good. The kind of record you leave behind then when you get home it somehow managed to come back with you, takes a little bit of while to get comfortable but then its there. I'm not sure if I'd play this one over the tannoy though

if you want to hear what the Bicep album is gonna sound like, join the Facebook group "The Identification Of Music." In theory its set up for clubbers to share their expertise and knowledge and help people identify tracks they've heard, but in actuality it's obnoxious lads posting grainy footage of unreleased Bicep, and while it often sounds good, the attitude and culture around that particularly section of dance music fans makes me feel disengaged and uninterested. It's a terrible thing to be put off listening to something by its fans but I can't help it.
(and I would leave the group but I'm hoping someone will identify a track Horse Meat Disco played both times I saw them last)
― boxedjoy, Wednesday, 5 July 2017 23:39 (six years ago) link
Randomer is the best. The 3/4 groove on the last track with the sample + some of the other parts sliding over in 4/4 is so smart.

Similar trick on track #2.
