comey is such a pathetic loser that trump can fire him through the nightly news and isn't concerned at all that comey will stand up for himself / try to attack/damage the administration / be any kind of threat whatsoever. comey is a cuck, and tho it's probably not a good sign for our country that trump has culled him i'm so fucking happy that piece of shit is suffering. maybe he'll find his backbone???

NYT:

Days Before He Was Fired, Comey Asked for Money for Russia Investigation
By MATTHEW ROSENBERG and MATT APUZZO MAY 10, 2017

WASHINGTON — Days before he was fired, James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in money and personnel for the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election, according to three officials with knowledge of his request.

Mr. Comey asked for the resources during a meeting last week with Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who wrote the Justice Department’s memo that was used to justify the firing of the F.B.I. director this week.

Mr. Comey then briefed members of Congress on the meeting in recent days.

lol @ will

god this is going to be a long 3 1/2 years. There's really no good options/outcomes for us. Congressional GOP is never going to turn on Trump, and even if they did and we somehow got to impeachment, we'd end up with President Pence and how is that any better? In many ways it would probably be worse. Important to keep all of these dramatic shenanigans in perspective. This investigations - the FBI, the Senate committee, etc. - are not going to produce any beneficial outcome beyond distracting and obstructing President BrainStem's administration. That's it, best-case scenario. Firing of Comey, while surprising and remarkably transparent, just contributes to that best-case scenario, because now this story is once again the focus, Congress is once again going to get bogged down it (yet another confirmation hearing! Dems using parliamentary rules to slow business, etc.) and it will be pushed to the forefront of the headlines, further tank Trump's poll numbers... at least until the next spectacularly stupid thing he does.

whenever Congress and the media shift to cover dangerous legislation, Trump sabotages his administration and that legislation. It's great. He can't help himself.

This may be alarmism (because, yeah, I'm alarmed) but I feel like Comey's firing is the turning point where we start seeing the more overt totalitarian shit everyone's been worried about. Erdogan and Duterte feel like pretty solid contemporary models for the shit we're gonna start seeing from President Bronzed Beanbag.

I tend to agree with Οὖτις. Pence is simultaneously evil and apparently an adult human male. The evil dispensed by a reasonably competent evil adult is different from the evil dispensed by an evil petulant baby. But it's not necessarily preferable.

I also agree with Lord Alfred that "distracting and obstructing" is valuable. Keeping Rumpworld off message and distracting it from evil designs of its own choosing is probably beneficial. It may be the best we can hope for.

I still think it's uniquely dangerous having a madman at the top of the government. The evil men around him are if anything emboldened bc they dont take direct responsibility for the things they advise trump to do.

self-sabotage is honestly the best possible outcome, first because the opposition has no actual power to oppose the administration whatsoever, and second because effective totalitarianism involves demonizing one's enemies. having a president who absolutely cannot talk about anybody but himself makes it much more difficult to do that work. at the same time you want to make your enemies invisible, and any time one of his enemies mentions his name it's like summoning fuckin' kibo. so not so good on the totalitarianism there either.

yeah those flat DOJ denials will end well. always good to make clear-cut statements that can later be proven to be lies.

trump meanwhile is straight up retweeting the Drudge Report's Comey-bashing, in between this highly presidential performance, relentlessly focused on the central issues of the matter:
