Pete Williams reporting that Trump called Dianne Feinstein earlier this afternoon to let her know he was firing Comey; it's gotten "bipartisan support."

This is ridiculous.

Treeship, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:25 (seven years ago) link

The idea that he was fired for misrepresenting the huma emails is the dumbest lie i've ever heard in my entire life.

Treeship, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:26 (seven years ago) link

sounds like Lindsey and The Mav are 100% supportive...

Caught the end of John McCain's reaction to the Comey firing: "The president does have that authority, so I respect that."

twitter helpfully reminding me that sessions recused himself from the russia investigation.. and has now waded in to recommend firing the leader of that investigation

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:30 (seven years ago) link

which makes Lindsey's posturing about his subcommittee delving deeper into Trump's Russian connections all the more lol

constitutional crises they fly at u face (will), Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:30 (seven years ago) link

Trump (and GOP) strategy on this has been to obstruct and head off threats from this investigation at every turn - they can't stop it altogether cuz lol intelligence community leaks + press + substantial portion of outraged public won't let them, but they sure can make it drag on forever and a day. which is what the end result is going to be. at least until 2018.

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:33 (seven years ago) link

WTF @ this news.

It's troubling that several of you apparently had the same thought I did re: FBI Director Giuliani.

Download this Man With Hamburder And Mug (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:33 (seven years ago) link

good thing for Trump that Comey is going to go away quietly and will calmly accept his fate without any regrets

Charles "Butt" Stanton (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 9 May 2017 22:34 (seven years ago) link

Giuliani would probably *love* to have this job if it wasn't basically a death sentence. I don't think he wants the stress of stepping into this mess. He would prefer just being able to crack heads & kill muslims, black people etc. Be the whipping boy for an investigation of the president probably not so much.

People seem to be focusing on the utterly laughable idea that Comey was fired for being unfair to Clinton, but reading between the lines (not even, really) of the AAG's recommendation, it looks like an alternate interpretation is that Comey was wrong to have announced that they wouldn't pursue prosecution of Clinton. Still makes little sense in terms of firing him today though (as if anyone who was paying attention couldn't see right through President Dumbfuck's true motives).

but the persecution of political opponents was Hoover's bag since the Palmer raids. You should listen to his taped chats w/LBJ.
