that is an outrage, that tosser shouldn't have been let near a game with regional rivals survival at stake.

can't log into the Express and Star comment section at work and I'm just dying to troll the championship experience we need shitkickers crew

The Remoans of the May (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 May 2017 11:07 (six years ago) link

Good luck with the local derby tomorrow, Tim. I am so nervous about tomorrow myself. Anything less than a two goal defeat tomorrow and I'm going to watch the 2nd leg in a pub on wednesday. It would be strange if we are still in it by wednesday, the same day of my dad's funeral - which I wont be attending. Long story, but I'll keep that shit off here from hereon!

Didn't catch the Fulham game, but I'm sure Reading won't be smug for the 2nd leg. Because Fulham can do shock and awe better than any in this division when they can get it together.

calzino, Saturday, 13 May 2017 21:49 (six years ago) link

Likewise - I like Wednesday well enough but will definitely be rooting for Town.

I'm struck by the varying fortunes of the league's Tesco bag teams this year.

I'm not going to either play-off semi, for tedious work / life reasons; it feels weird, like the match isn't really happening. I've never missed an ECFC play-off game before. (We've only ever reached playoffs twice before, both times in the conference).

Tim, Sunday, 14 May 2017 07:04 (six years ago) link

Our regular nemesis Forestieri starting, although he is carrying an injury. I'm thinking of not very sporting ideas of how to nullify that bastard today!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 10:38 (six years ago) link

lockin in for this one! good luck calzino, rooting for your lot

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 14 May 2017 10:50 (six years ago) link

cheers, I think we are doomed tbh!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 10:59 (six years ago) link

oh no Izzy, more composure pls!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 11:25 (six years ago) link

we are playing well but we did in the league games against them as well and got nothing. They can soak up all the pressure and FF will score with a rare attack.

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 11:28 (six years ago) link

lol Tommy Smith clearly of a mind with you re Forestieri

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 14 May 2017 11:30 (six years ago) link

a horrible vision of what is to come next season when Wagner is gone - Schteve at the game again:(

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 11:43 (six years ago) link

that 3 quid I stuck on Forestieri to score 1st worked it's magic

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 12:34 (six years ago) link

that went better than expected, I am totally pumped up for the away leg now!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 12:54 (six years ago) link

Good result, on the face of it?

Tim, Sunday, 14 May 2017 12:56 (six years ago) link

Oh deffo a good result. We lack a lot of quality in the final 3rd, but we are operating on the same budget as Rotherham. For all expenditure of Wednesday they had 3 shots and none on target!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 12:58 (six years ago) link

I suppose it quite strange the way Wednesday always play 10 behind the ball against us, like they are the underdogs. but you can't argue with their results so far - today is the first time they haven't beaten us in a while.

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 13:03 (six years ago) link

In some ways going to Hillsborough without a goal advantage could be a blessing, we have previous of parking the bus with a 2nd leg goal advantage and getting stuffed.

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 13:44 (six years ago) link

I was just saying to my younger brother that for me a day out at Wembley in the sun, after sneaking a load of booze onto the coach is far more important than the trifling matter of getting promoted to the Prem!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 13:57 (six years ago) link

just lolling at a comment that Grant Holt would have put at least 2 of those chances we had today, mainly because it is absolutely true.

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 14:14 (six years ago) link

I'd like to congratulate Forest Green Rovers on their promotion to Div 4 but I really can't bring myself to. They genuinely are the Gretna of English football:

And that was before this announcement:

Mud... Jam... Failure... (aldo), Sunday, 14 May 2017 17:25 (six years ago) link

that Dale Vince seems a bit of a tosser, a very smoothies aesthetic style multi-millionaire. Plus I've mad love for Tranmere.

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 18:10 (six years ago) link

I suppose if you are a dodgy crim type chairman, like the 90's Doncaster Rovers one - there are plenty of benefits for a wooden football ground!

calzino, Sunday, 14 May 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

fake underdogs Reading played well tonight, missed a gubber, some class saves from Al Habsi

If we get past the massive tomorrow - I'm happier to face them.

calzino, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:03 (six years ago) link

was gonna ask! feel like the fake hoops won by default but if i was you i'd rather play them than the cottagers

The Remoans of the May (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:51 (six years ago) link

A team that has put 9 past you unanswered in the last season is a big no no for Wembley! Although tonight I felt we are just as capable of doing a defensive job against them as Reading did earlier, although recent evidence suggests otherwise. Anyway, now just the small matter of beating Wednesday. I would much rather the 2nd leg at Hillsborough, we actually a good record there.

Extra time!

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 20:39 (six years ago) link

watched the entire game in a pub, and am seen to want a medal

imago, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 20:59 (six years ago) link

I am listening to this at home and rooting for Huddersfield but oh god the agony, it's making me dread tomorrow night when I'll have an actual emotional stake in the matter. At least I'll just be in the pub so can slink home if it all goes wrong.

Tim, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:12 (six years ago) link

this is quite clearly an old england v germany rerun

wtev, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:29 (six years ago) link

Endured an Alan Partdige soundalike and Schteve McL on 5live to witness this. Excellent stuff.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:31 (six years ago) link

I am too stoned to comment right now

calzino, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 23:15 (six years ago) link

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 23:17 (six years ago) link

trolling the Express and Star has become irresistible tbh

hope you're going to Wembley calzino

The Remoans of the May (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 18 May 2017 08:40 (six years ago) link

I'm definitely going, we have won all playoff finals at old/new Wembley/Cardiff that I went to. The only complete dud was the final at Old Trafford against Posh, but I watched that one int pub.

Quaner gets so much unfair stick, he was a game-changer last night and made Rhodes look like an overpaid amateur. I fucking love alcohol fuelled Wembley trips.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 09:56 (six years ago) link

Forestieri had gotten so used to scoring against us he thought his tame effort would suffice, oh no!

"Endured an Alan Partdige soundalike and Schteve McL on 5live to witness this"

Sadly, our chairman is probably about to employ Schteve as the next director of football/stalking horse for the manger's job type wasteman. Not particularly sure Wagner will remain in the UK whether we go up or not - whatever the case ultimate legend status is assured forever at this point.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:09 (six years ago) link

On the radio Schteeve made a particular point of saying he wasn't interested in any Director of Football role, at HTFC or elsewhere, that he was a coach and a manager and that he couldn't wait to get back to that and a DoF was years away for him. ALso that yes he has been to see HTFC quite a lot but that he lives nearby and the games are always exciting, plus Wagner's tactics are interesting and he wants to understand them better.

I took that to mean that he considers himself suited, ready and willing to step in as Manager at Huddersfield if and when Wagner leaves.

Tim, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:14 (six years ago) link

I am actually rather nervous about this evening's torture.

Tim, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:14 (six years ago) link

that is the only way to feel before playoff games, because of course they can go so wrong and bring much more despair or elation than ordinary wins/defeats. GL Exeter, will be watching an acestream of the game later when the hangover has worn off.

calzino, Thursday, 18 May 2017 10:21 (six years ago) link

GL with the hangover. I must try to keep my drinking manageable this evening, Monday was a horror.
