phil-two, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:40 (sixteen years ago) link

I was SHOCKED LJ's #1 was Grim Fandango and not one of these top-scoring soccer games.

Abbott, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Jagger apparently got two #1 votes
Dom, are you just making this up?

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Grim Fandango was Louis #3, not #1.

how easy are these football championship managers to pick up and enjoy/understand for an american who knows not-too-much about soccer?

phil-two, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:46 (sixteen years ago) link

going back to Pi-Man, i've got mp3 of the song if anyone wants it. it's pretty amazing.

blueski, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Jagger had Grim Fandango #3. IT'S AN ERROR PEOPLE.

He also had San Francisco Rush 2049 at #5.

For someone who knows not-too-much about soccer, no problem. For someone who doesn't enjoy spending hours juggling numbers, a big problem.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:48 (sixteen years ago) link

There is nothing aspie about saving and replaying exactly the same game 20 times with each game played with the goalkeeper's longpassing slider set at different notches.

Chrono Trigger is another one of those games where you get too powerful too fast, and there's just an infinitude of awesome combos and powers you can acquire, but never actually would in the course of playing the thing.

This is literally the only thing I can think of that's wrong with this game.

abanana, Sunday, 4 May 2008 22:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Too low. Ah well, at least it made the top 10.

emil.y, Sunday, 4 May 2008 22:02 (sixteen years ago) link

If Toejam & Earl would have been ported to other systems, it would have broken into the top 75, I bet. As it is, anyone who never got a Genesis missed out. I actually never sat down and beat it until a few months ago, when I downloaded it onto my Wii.

i have a 1989 copy of C+VG somewhere that has a preview of this, but i didn't play it till 1994 :(

I first played the CD version that came with one of those Lucasarts Archives sets. The original version had only 16 colors!

Z S, Sunday, 4 May 2008 22:11 (sixteen years ago) link

Along with maybe Dagger of Amon Ra, Monkey Island was the pinnacle of the mouse-based graphic adventure. No dead ends, no dying, puzzles that were genuinely fun to figure out, an amazing soundtrack, and the lushest pixel-painted world ever realized. I love Melee Island in all its blue-black glory, punctuated by glowing yellow windows...
