I am usually listening to Spotify when I go onto Pitchfork (searching for what they said about such-and-such album). Drives me crazy that something in their autoplay embeds forces Spotify to stop playing. And yet the audio for their autoplay doesn't actually come on unless I tap for sound. So that's irritating.

Are there any actual Chromatics fans in real life, aside from a handful of Pitchfork writers? Seriously, the hagiography of this guy is absurd. I have literally never heard a single human being talk about this band, and there are two threads on ILX with fewer than twenty posts between them.

I love the Chromatics but between IDIB's determination to reissue and repackage the same material multiple times, and the music news cycle willing to report every brainfart of Johnny Jewel as exciting developments, I can see why they would seem over-exposed.

I would consider Chromatics an ILM staple - they've placed in EOY polls a couple of times

i love chromatics, but they def are one of "those critically feted bands" to a degree that's sometimes annoying

i quite liked them for a while but i really listened to their last (?) album hard and ended up being disillusioned by how little they/JJ had to 'say'
