this shit is completely and totally amazing. and I'm only about 1/4 way through the thread. I've been completely avoiding Youtube (and Youtude threads) because I didn't want to get sucked in ... no time (and I avoid all 300+ post threads as a rool), but...

HOLY SHIT, is some of this stuff amazing. Yardbirds, Broughtons, CAPTAIN freakin BEYOND... that Captain Beyond thing is so goddamn ridiculously good

That floyd clip isn't from the Beat Club. I have the whole thing, it was some BBC show and done in a studio. It follows a hilarious interview where some stodgy music critic says "why does it have to be so loud?" I'm sure the whole thing is up somewhere. I got it on one of those bootlegs you can buy at Kims.

This is the Floyd shit I couldn't believe:

wow that sandy denny clip is mazing

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Thursday, 23 March 2006 08:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Sandy Denny clip doesn't actually fit the thread IN THE SLIGHTEST, but is cool enough that I'm not actually complaining. I doubt that the "Jugband Blues" clip is THAT close to the end, 'cause the Floyd are a four-piece in it, right?

Last nit-pick: maybe someone better versed in Japsych than I am can school me, but is that really Fushitsusha, or a different Haino project? I don't know F as a guitar-bass duo, and the piece they're playing strikes me as pretty foursquare and blues-based.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 23 March 2006 12:44 (eighteen years ago) link

i'm pretty sure it's fushitsusha, who were a gtr-bass-drum power trio up till abt 3-4 years ago - they quite often ended their sets w/ a short, 'punkish' rave-up (check the 'Sable' alb on Victo for example)

but it cld be some other haino group

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Thursday, 23 March 2006 12:51 (eighteen years ago) link

Saw Fushitsusha at Le Weekend in Stirling - was it three years ago? Anyway, it was certainly just Haino & bass player at that point.

Soukesian, Thursday, 23 March 2006 13:25 (eighteen years ago) link

there was at least one bass+drums fushitsusha album. it was pretty dreadful.

baby, disco is fuck (yournullfame), Thursday, 23 March 2006 14:07 (eighteen years ago) link

OK, jury's still out but it probably is F. Here's Ronnie James Dio as a singing frog:
