His haircut reminds me of one of the NKOTB guys and he does some great mugging in the video.

Love this single. Am I the only one getting massive Alphabeat vibes from the song and video?

I'd been thinking Jordan, actually, but I had remembered his hair as being curlier than it actuallly was.

this maybe is an unfavorable comparison, but the track reminds of "You've Changed" by Sia (with Nick Valensi on guitars)

For no reason whatsoever this song and video both remind me of

So yeah this is their new sound and they're sticking to it. Another good track though.

I wonder if this is the track that's gonna get the bigger push on alt radio, while "Hard Times" goes for the top 40 spins

that song rules

So psyched for the album now.

how's life, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 17:40 (six years ago) link

these songs are produced really well. all the instruments are crisp.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 3 May 2017 17:59 (six years ago) link

they seem to be having fun. this is good

Spottie, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 18:23 (six years ago) link

Hard Times went from 'ok' to 'great' after a day and I love this immediately

New one is good too. I haven't been a fan in the past but I definitely saw some of the appeal of the last album.

I'm really enjoying the new song, but this part is nagging me a little.

Uh, that isn't showing up for me. So what I was trying to point out was the similarity between the moments at about 2:40 in Told You So and 3:03 in Hard Times.

how's life, Thursday, 4 May 2017 13:41 (six years ago) link

tbh i like that the songs seem to talk to each other

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 4 May 2017 13:42 (six years ago) link

That's a good way to look at it.

how's life, Thursday, 4 May 2017 13:43 (six years ago) link

*relistens to "told you so"* ugh this is magnificent

Love "Told You So". This looks suddenly (and, to me anyway, unexpectedly) an album of the year contender.

Jeff W, Friday, 5 May 2017 09:41 (six years ago) link

i can't listen to anything else. what a brilliant song.

Nourry, Friday, 5 May 2017 09:56 (six years ago) link

I love it when there's something my daughter and I can both enjoy. It's much preferable to nefarious tween marketing tweaks directing her to bullseye shit like Panic! At the Disco and Twenty One Pilots.

"Forgiveness" is either a blatant Haim lift or a working through of the same influences.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 11 May 2017 12:36 (six years ago) link

hayley has lately been enthusing about haim all over twitter fyi

del esdichado (NickB), Thursday, 11 May 2017 12:42 (six years ago) link

I was going to say, who needs a new Haim?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 11 May 2017 13:45 (six years ago) link

Two quick observations: drummer has some fallback hi-hat on the 2 and 4 beats, and guitarist really likes those little African-esque licks. Both of which work, to my ears.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 11 May 2017 13:47 (six years ago) link

yeah, lots of high life accents

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 11 May 2017 13:48 (six years ago) link

"forgiveness" is easily the best song i've heard this year & will prob destroy anything on the haim album--and i love haim!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 May 2017 13:52 (six years ago) link

It's got sort of 1975 vibes about it, too. And, um, "Cherish." Lovely, though.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 11 May 2017 14:02 (six years ago) link

Fake Happy is my immediate favourite. I love how those synths come in after that misleading intro.

No Friend is the only one I'm not really into. I don't think they really pulled off what they were going for. It's the only misfire on the album though, everything else sounds so good.
