on first listen to the new one, might be my fav since the s/t. i was less warm towards the previous two Suffocation albums but this one brings back some of the missing savagery and more breakdownz.

new live album unnecessary but a nice little time capsule of Frank's last tour on stage.
his banter with his Long Island accent kills me

this band basically birthed the new school of cloney brutal death and deathcore bands, didn't they?
I mean they also inspired a buncha good bands too but I feel like all of that lineage comes from their breakdowns which were used the right way but bands that are inspired often take the wrong things

just realized today that while I'm laser-focused on Frank's vocals on Breeding the Spawn and Effigy, I've tuned them out on Pierced because - they sound different! I had noticed a vocal pattern of his on "Thrones of Blood" that I wasn't familiar with because he kind of sits more in the background there.
very odd - idk if it was just the production or if he was using diff technique but he was more intelligible, the growl a little less deep and a little more phlegmatic.
