Sha-La-La is amazing cause it does all those terrible old timey things like a la la chorus and a novelty percussion and yet Green and Mitchell make it work

I could do without "Stayin' Alive" in both this and the disco-only poll.

I've done a year-by-year breakdown for the Top 100:

1970 15
1971 15
1972 19
1973 14
1974 8
1975 6
1976 4
1977 5
1978 5
1979 9

That makes 71 for the first half of the decade, and 29 for the second half.

Thanks, ArchCarrier. This was fun. As mentioned on one of the other threads, I was mega-busy during the nominations and voting period so my ballot was thrown together at the last minute with tons of write-ins… and even then I completely forgot MJ's "Ain't No Sunshine" and The Commodores' "Sail On", two of my all-time favourite singles. These should have been in my top 3.

OK, I'm cool with an 80s poll. But how to define the boundaries? Is Italo allowed? Who can come up with a good definition?

Also, for this poll we had 1 week nominating, 2 weeks voting/campaigning, 1 week rollout. Was this OK for all of you?

ArchCarrier, Saturday, 15 April 2017 18:53 (seven years ago) link

Maybe do it as an 80s R&B poll? There was an Italo poll not so long ago.

mike t-diva, Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:07 (seven years ago) link

Yeah, just call it R&B and let anyone nominate anything. The timetable seems ok to me.

Think an 80s poll would be great, guess I sort of grew up with lots of 80s R&B, but rarely hear about any of it beside Prince, Michael Jackson and a few hits like I Feel For You. Would be really good to have something to dig into from the mid 80s which often seems like a bit of a desert.

mike t-diva, do you have a list of each track with its year? I want to start filing these track poll winners for a thing.
