like "i left my eggs on the counter they do it in europe it is fine and healthy" followed by ppl explaining that eggs are washed in united states, lack the coating preventing bacterial probs, put them in the fridge

then the comment several days later saying whoa you are two months pregnant for the love of god refrigerate your eggs in the usa

"The coating" includes chicken shit, I'm pro-egg washing

it seems like theyre kinda driving more circumspect ppl insane too like you have a lot of people devoting many tweets to countering russia conspiracies when its pretty obvious that there was a russia conspiracy

yeah there was some shit going on but the need to tie every campaign misstep or weird thing that has happened in the last year into one master russian plan is very much the thing people who can't understand a complex world do

like there are people actively believing and ranting on about how there was some russian psyop to entrap Weiner so his email would get searched at just the right date to affect the election

dude was just horny at the least opportune time as usual, c'mon

Does anyone here use Twitter for Mac? Since yesterday they removed the'@' from reply tweets, and replaced it with a tinyscript 'in reply to' byline. Utterly chaotic, you couldn't immediately see if someone replied to someone or had an original tweet. Changed back to Tweetbot today.

yeah I have't used the twitter desktop client for mac, ever

garland as tragic single dad is pretty amazing, following his arc before he got his "game theory" chops. like one day he's talking about really concentrating on his career and then after a while it goes to complaints about the divorce process and w/e, then there's this crazy persona that pops out later

A possibly important consideration for folks who blind link tweets- what happens if/when twitter is gone but ILX is still here?

I mean the same thing as always, we may bemoan the broken URLs, but to c&p a tweet is generally a trivial exercise as opposed to copying an image or a video

I still use Tweetbot and still don't know what thing they've changed for the worse

i might have to reinstall tweetbot, because this is making twitter unreadable

replies/threads have always been the worst aspect of twitter, idk how it could get worse tbh

one really annoying aspect is when a user with a lot of followers does a 'tweetstorm' or more modestly threads a couple tweets, that the thread includes all the mentions and replies. for a 'power user' this can be hundreds of tweets for an otherwise brief thread. there should be some option to like, just see the thread, and it should be the default, not forcing you to read the 'comments section'

another one is when you reply to one specific tweet in a thread, your replies appear sorted by time and not by order of which tweet they're referring to, so unless you're replying to the most recent tweet, it's impossible to know who's referring to what. i get that there are no simple solutions but it must be possible to improve this

i don't think this is worse tho cuz u still have the blue lines. having the blue lines and the @ replies was redundant

also sometimes u clickthru on a tweet that is replying to another tweet... and it doesn't show you the tweet it is replying to! wtf

These should be easily mutable using the regex mute feature in tweetbot.
