he really is the closest we've got to a washed up aging 70s rock star, glad he's coming through with a classic album title

as you were lads....as you were

does anyone outside of the UK have that haircut? that combed down sideburns w the bangs brushed forward and then fluffed up in the back? I feel like that is literally a thing I see solely on a small subset of UK "rock" dudes

Οὖτις, Monday, 13 March 2017 21:40 (seven years ago) link

it looks like he got an ordinary shag haircut, and then someone slapped a 'rocker' halloween costume wig (or brain slug) on top towards the back.

As You Were really does have that Spinal Tap touch

There's about 500 guys with that hairstyle on this thread: a mix between The Stone Roses and Primal Scream with the swagger of Oasis

Tbh I'm surprised there isn't a band called As You Were in that thread

Downchild Blues Band, "But, I'm On The Guest List" (from 1982, but *if it walks like a duck...)

(*was this used as a horrible album title in the 70s?)

Give it a year or two, there probably will be.

Coolio Iglesias (Turrican), Thursday, 16 March 2017 20:05 (seven years ago) link

But I'm on the Guest List is A+

plus aspects of the 70s lasted through the first couple years of the 80s

haha these are great

niels, Thursday, 16 March 2017 20:36 (seven years ago) link

yeah i've never had a problem with these extending way past the 70s, though it helps when it's an act that plausibly had been saving up this title since that time. the 70s is a ~feeling~ with these cats.

and yeah "But, I'm On The Guest List" is incredible

wrt to snatch that totally doesn't have the shruggy, just a regular joe kinda irony that is the key to these.

like a i've got my own album to do title CAN be a pun, but being a pun doesn't necessarily make it one if that makes sense

I feel like that is kind of a lazy one for this thread, like the actual cover should be the band pushing a group of children to one side of the frame or some such thing.
