Metro Boomin beats on raindrop, droptop & "You Was Right" are really mechanical and dry. I guess it fits with these guys' raps but that doesn't make it any better

bored so I'm gonna write about each song on this album
Culture (ft. DJ Khaled)
the double whammy of Khaled and 'ass/baboon' are a terrible start to the album but things get infinitely better immediately after the first 20 seconds. beat sounds like someone playing xylophone on a ribcage (i think i am stealing this from an old Tim F post about Timbaland) and the end of the Takeoff verse pops into in my head all the time, just love this flow:
I wanna whip up some pies today
How many n*ggas gon' ride today?
How many n*ggas gon' slide and grab on they nine
When I say it's time to slay?
Jump in the crowd and get live today
Heard you talkin' through the wire today
I'ma pull up with that fire, aim at his eye
I bet he gon' die today
and then Quavo: YUHH
T-Shirt
not much left to say, total masterpiece, neck/water/fawcet, space coupe/quavo yoda/pourin drank in sodas, &c&c. i really wish this had become a hit because it's a lot more dance-floor friendly than 'Bad & Boujee' (which i put on at a p bangin dancefloor of a house party a couple weeks ago and ppl weren't having it smh). I know i just said this about the last one but Migos are really good at using a tight pattern to build up tension that creates these beautiful crescendos like
Young n*gga with the Anna, walkin' with the hammer
Talkin' country grammar, n*gga
Straight out North Atlanta
Call Casting
i like how each verse starts with a one syllable word and its adlib ('act (act!)' 'packs (packs!)'), clever
Bad and Boujee (ft. Lil Uzi Vert)
nothing else to say about this one except that i've officially decided the Lil Uzi verse is Good. takes a lot of balls to do drop such a dumb verse on a feature after two knotty Migos verses, but I love how disorienting it is, i love those awkward moments on rap albums when their shitty weed carriers have verses that at first appear to suck the energy out of the room but by the end kind of win you over with brute force of their charm (Flockaveli is like the ne plus ultra of this) comes way out of left-field and tbh that's kind of a badass "rockstar" move so kudos

Slippery (ft. Gucci Mane)
first listens i thought this was some Oedipus shit, the Sunz of Mane beat the king at his own game. but 'I'm so slimy, grimy, shiesty but still shinin'/Rude and unkindly, cruel with no conscience' is fucking amazing effortless 2010 vintage Gucci. i remember seeing the tracklist to this and getting so excited about a gucci feature on a song called 'Slippery' (and love how he immediately clarifies 'I'm drippin' but not slippin' in the first line). i've been slacking on checking out the newest Gucci stuff bc of lukewarm responses on ilm but I'm really feeling all his guest verses so I should prob just get to it. also 'tater tot/fuck n*ggas on my radar watch' has penetrated deep into the layers my mind and set up shop
