Bivouac too low! Would have been my number 1 to be honest if I hadn't dropped the ball.

Shotmaker is also too low.

I can't refrain! Dashboard TOO LOW definitely! This was my #5. Acknowledge that TPYHCTFTM is probably a better album, but this was released at the height of my emo discovery and I recorded every track on tape for the car and would insist on getting my mum to drive further than she ever needed to so that I would keep getting to sing it in the car. Love absolutely every track.

i can never remember the difference on those first few Dashboard albums tbf. Had to go back last week and listen to each one to be able to place them in my ballot somewhat correctly. In 2003 I just had a single mp3 cd with all the songs from each album plus some from the mtv unplugged release.

I'm in the opposite boat. Granted my tastes are pretty specific, but I don't dig 80% of these albums at all. I'm pretty excited to see whether or not that trend carries through the rest of the list

this is my second favorite dashboard album and it's not as fully realized or complete like places but it's still chockfull of great melodies, sing-alongs, clever lines, etc. it was #15 on my ballot.

Those couple of records get mixed in my head. Twas the audiogalaxy era and I didn't have anything of theirs on album at the time, just random songs and whatever albums my wife played.

this is the one w/ their one radio hit (not counting their contribution to the spiderman sdtrk)

No idea what you are into but I think the top 50 of the poll will be dominated by the big pop albums interspersed by some of the big 90s names

Hands Down at Reading 2006 was incredible. Never since been so into a singalong on that scale.

dashboard is the best singalong artist. i've only seen him in smaller venues but it's extraordinarily cathartic singing along w/ these songs w/ a bunch of strangers. i saw them a few months ago in philly and it was such a great show.

odysseus - he can be a chronic complainer but he's been moaning in this chat on fb all day about how this poll will be too poppy for his tastes and now he's whining on the thread. i guess whining is apropos to the pop punk genre but i feel like it's really not in the spirit of emo which should be more sincere + devastated than snot-nosed and bratty.

oh... well at least it's mostly relegated to FB then.

So jealous of that Dashboard gig. Praying for an international tour.

Yeah, I've never seen a show with such loud cathartic singing along as when I saw Dashboard in Seattle.

The chorus of Quicksand's "Head to Wall" is a great example of how post hardcore and emo can blur

Wow, this Pedro the Lion stuff is lovely. Great with the build and a twinge of dark folk in there...so nice.

I always considered post-hardcore to be a subsidiary of emo as much as of punk, even when it shares almost nothing in common with the sound...but that might just be because I came to like both at around the same time. They have pretty similar followings too imo... Different days/different t-shirts.
