New Carsten Jost album on Dial sounding nice on first listen.

Very nice indeed. Very much in the same vein as Pantha and Lawrence. No complaints.

New record from Geizz T, who I had never heard of before but has a new album on Lize records. One of those towpath type records, mud on the shoes, bit of an STL feeling right?

saer, Saturday, 11 March 2017 19:41 (seven years ago) link

yes

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 March 2017 00:35 (seven years ago) link

I passed on this one at first, but heard it again by chance in a mix which brought it out of its shell a bit more. Let the introverted records have their say too!

anyone have any nyc picks as far as clubs/residents go? going to be around a few days in early April and might catch a night out

out of a desire to tweak my friend who very much came of age during the late 90s superstar dj era I'm tempted to see Sasha (lol) but that sounds like a hassle

mh 😏, Wednesday, 15 March 2017 01:48 (seven years ago) link

So, the new Object is quite the populist banger.

a but (brimstead), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 02:12 (seven years ago) link

yeah I was not too into that release, especially as there is actually no in'n'out burger in balboa park

however the previews of the new one coming out on lobster theremin white label sounds ("don't sleep there are snakes") is sounding pretty good

The times they are a changing, perhaps (map), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:05 (seven years ago) link

Definitely lives up to the "Rising Sun" title.

DJI, Thursday, 23 March 2017 17:32 (seven years ago) link

rising sun is the producer i think, not familiar with him. sven weisemann is the remixer and his output is excellent, lush deep/dub house to the nth degree. this kind of thing can be a little sleepy sometimes but this one is just so compelling imo.

The times they are a changing, perhaps (map), Thursday, 23 March 2017 17:49 (seven years ago) link

and i think it's robert owens with the vocals?

The times they are a changing, perhaps (map), Thursday, 23 March 2017 17:50 (seven years ago) link

absolutely a 6:00 am track.

I love sven weisemann's work on the a.r.t.less and mob labels, will have to check this out

Bit of a skip in its step that one

the late great, Friday, 24 March 2017 16:56 (seven years ago) link

saer, Friday, 24 March 2017 18:24 (seven years ago) link

I think the music sounds like an episode of Stranger Things

saer, Friday, 24 March 2017 18:24 (seven years ago) link

yes they have that washed out vhs aesthetic

the late great, Friday, 24 March 2017 18:41 (seven years ago) link

It also sounds like when you are waiting for a bus near a bowling alley and there is some music inside.

saer, Friday, 24 March 2017 19:04 (seven years ago) link

I'm really looking forward to this Kelly Lee Owens, I loved her EP from last year

I think I'm gonna need some strong persuasion to listen to Ross From Friends given that every time I am drunk with a keyboard in my reach that is exactly what people compare me to

boxedjoy, Friday, 24 March 2017 19:10 (seven years ago) link

xpost one of my most transcendent music experiences as a young adult was in 1995 (i think ?) walking past a club with friends just after midnight and hearing basement jaxx's "flylife" come pounding through the walls
