Missed opportunity to just rename the whole project 'the Mountain Goths'.

DJP has taken over the MG identity and it is nothing but plainsong chants.

Or alternately, I arranged backing vocals on one of the songs

Anyone reading his book?

calstars, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 21:26 (seven years ago) link

Just got a copy after going to the reading in Seattle. I'm honestly amazed by how good he is at audience q&a's, being able to answer cliched or awkwardly phrased questions in an interesting way that doesn't make the person asking feel stupid is a real gift.

JoeStork, Wednesday, 22 February 2017 21:31 (seven years ago) link

omg @ Goths

Universal Harvester rolling me right along in a musical way, not breezy tho (how did that word become such a thing)

i have been VERY disappointed to discover Universal Harvester unstocked at the many airports i have passed through this weekend

jason waterfalls (gbx), Sunday, 26 February 2017 20:13 (seven years ago) link

That's because you weren't looking under his pseudonym, 'Brad Thor.'

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 26 February 2017 20:16 (seven years ago) link

Oh so it is available as an ebook in the kobo store, but not in the UK. And there I thought we had a global economy.

as an aside i have to imagine placement in airport bookstores does wonders for sales -- feel like airports are one of the last few places ppl make impulse book purchases

i'm only five songs into this but this is easily my favorite mountain goats record in years. the no guitars approach works remarkably well, the arrangements are so detailed and lovely

I like it but it's too jazz, I thought the same thing about the last one but it won me around, but I'm pretty sure this one is too jazz.

^fully expect to cut and paste this for every Mountain Goats album from now on.
