I wish I had voted Porter Ricks in my top 3 so I could hear saer's reaction to that

I will listen to it in a minujte! and then some of the 2nd placed efforts

saer, Thursday, 9 February 2017 01:00 (seven years ago) link

oh, but which Porter Ricks record?

saer, Thursday, 9 February 2017 01:00 (seven years ago) link

Canibal probably my favourite here I hadn't heard before, kinda down with MC Pyha Lehma's vibe too.

Oh i played the 2nd placers already just realised

BAD
A Wax - horrible, sounds like its from a biopic
Amason - i cant remember

Aphex Twin - name recognition alone must be the only reason this is here
Cupcakke - not for me
Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam - sounds like Frankie Miller
Henry Chadwick - sounds like celery
Le Youth ft. Tay Beckham - sounds like its very far away, which is good because its irritating
Young Thug - King Troup (2nd) had enough of this guy from in the real poll

GOOD

And.rea - well, this was one of my own votes so yes i think its very genial!
Esperanza Spalding -didn't like this at first, far too NPR and it sounded like it was recorded in a tea chest but i think it was a live version. then it grew on me, I think i might actually quite like this one!
Mind of a Dragon - Crush (Doctor Nick Remix) - this is good too! not exactly keen on the vocals but otherwise this isn;t bad

it doesnt feel right to vote for something i voted for, so its between spalding and the dragon so far

saer, Thursday, 9 February 2017 01:16 (seven years ago) link

esperanza is a bit Joni, is that a lazy comparison?

That was the crux of the conversation when she showed up on the albums rollout tbh

great title, I love boats and records about boats. I'll have to come back to this one, it sounds a bit manic at the minute!

Alla - feedthedragon Vol.3 (3rd) - I coujldn't even find this one

Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan - Love You Zindavgi - they play this kind of stuff on Norwegian Air while they keep you on the runway for 90 minutes waiting for a gate

Alex Cameron - The Comeback (3rd) bit cloying, but so-so till the singing.
Car Seat Headrest - Unforgiving Girl (She's Not An) (3rd) no

Animal Collective - Vertical (3rd)
Champion - Gunshot (3rd)
Desiigner - Timmy Turner (3rd)
Dirty Dishes - All Of Me

these sort of went by without causing much distress. Maybe i've finally become innured

saer, Thursday, 9 February 2017 13:50 (seven years ago) link

Markus Sommer - Fucked Up Dinosauri (3rd) - I like it a lot, its a cheeky lad. its also one of my choices so of course I like it

MC Pyhä Lehmä ft. Rauhatäti & Heidi - Lennetää etelää - I love the Bob James record it samples. i don't love all the parts that aren't Bob James

Metafive - Gravetrippin Not my thing really, but surprisingly reasonable aspects

Gregory Porter - Consequence Of Love (3rd) nice hat

Ile - Canibal (3rd)

Modern Baseball - Coding these to Lukens (3rd)
Vremya I Steklo - Navernopotomuchto

didnt like these at all
