yr amusement arcades arent half fond of running smack into the defender in front of them

ikr?

that right there is why i'd take Lambo over Brucey any day tho. mission now is to win the trust of the Fosun boys so we can get some more of that sweet investment cash come summer

Costa's one of those lads in FM with phat looking stats and you've had him for a month until you notice Teamwork 4

a. we'll never beat them will be

b. keith stroud is a travesty

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 14 January 2017 22:16 (seven years ago) link

It looks like we are going for a Bundesliga II striker - Terrence Boyd and QPR are in for Ward now. Apparently we wouldn't pay the 2m + or whatever Rotherham wanted for him, it looked nailed on that he was coming back last week even his brother was saying he was returning.

calzino, Monday, 16 January 2017 11:40 (seven years ago) link

we'll not spend that much. reported rejected bid is £1.3m

some are saying you have a 40% sell-on on him

r|t|c, Monday, 16 January 2017 14:32 (seven years ago) link

yeah we definitely have a high sell-on because he was our 2nd biggest ever transfer fee when he signed from Bolton, I think our chairman stated at the time we took a loss on him but put a high sell on in case he got his act together. I'd still have him back, he was very inconsistent and lazy, but never any doubt on his ability. Some of our lot are very hostile to him but he had about 7 goals and 12 assists (or something like that) in his last season for us and this was when he wasn't even firing on all cylinders.

calzino, Monday, 16 January 2017 14:58 (seven years ago) link

wiki says he got 10 goals in his penultimate season for us - probably the one I'm thinking of.

calzino, Monday, 16 January 2017 15:04 (seven years ago) link

imo he could be the shrewd bargain of the window. If he was a Derby player his value would be inflated to 6m probably.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jan/19/millwall-stadium-false-funding-claims-the-den

According to documents seen by the Guardian, even as the foundation was being awarded half a million pounds by Lewisham council in July 2014 its website still listed its phone number as 01234657890, which connected to an automated message advertising that number for sale. On the same website the Surrey Canal Sport Foundation’s official address was recorded as 29 Acacia Road; an apparently unconnected location in north London that appears, in a bizarre detail, to be a bodged version of the home address of the cartoon superhero Bananaman.

r|t|c, Thursday, 19 January 2017 21:04 (seven years ago) link

The foundation does have fine aims for its future expansion. Currently it hosts the London Thunder basketball team and has 20 ping-pong tables available for public use.

this was the best & saltiest bit

Rotherham boss Paul Warne has slapped a £5million price tag on sought-after striker Danny Ward.

r|t|c, Thursday, 19 January 2017 21:24 (seven years ago) link

I see Smithies has finally settled in the South, he must have found out they have cricket clubs and places almost as weird as the Holme Valley down there in Windsor as well.

If we aren't signing Ward a desperate deadline day bidding war for him wouldn't harm us financially. It looks like we are still after Boyd, but talks have stalled over wages/contract length or something. I think I'd actually prefer Ward tbh, cos Boyd looks like a decent targetman type, but poor with the ball at his feet. I just feel Wagner could turn Ward into a right player and he is more versatile and could play behind Nahki or be cover.

plucky upstarts wednesday with a bench of david jones, callum mcmanaman, steven fletcher and gary hooper tonight

r|t|c, Friday, 20 January 2017 19:49 (seven years ago) link

They have a very mean ass defence, Forestieri's incessant diving still often goes on un-checked, like you say an embarrassment of options on the bench, Winnall chomping at the bit, they soaked up everything we threw at them .. you got hell on!

calzino, Friday, 20 January 2017 20:06 (seven years ago) link

or at least Brighton have, this has 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it.

calzino, Friday, 20 January 2017 20:11 (seven years ago) link

yes. no one should have to watch it. with a flourish i now close the tab

r|t|c, Friday, 20 January 2017 20:17 (seven years ago) link

Vaughany on for another hattrick tonight, he might play his way out of L1 at this rate. Then get injured again probably.

jesus reading about the brighton game...feels like one of those 'ok yeah they're going up' moments

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 03:16 (seven years ago) link

hughton may have limitations* but he gives a team backbone, even when it hasn't really existed before

*wondering if he isn't that rarest of things, an underrated british manager**

**there's a fairly blatant reason why this might be the case

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 03:21 (seven years ago) link

idk i think he's rated about right m/l? seems he may have evolved a bit (newcastle and norwich were steady hand on the tiller jobs, and the latter were unreasonably pedestrian in the prem), this brighton side have a bit more devil than his usual collectively (gaming the ref all the bloody time) and individually (knockaert). also impressive that he brought on solly march with 10v11 at 1-1 last night

shame they didnt get pritchard, would have been interesting

r|t|c, Saturday, 21 January 2017 10:17 (seven years ago) link

was wednesday swooping for morgan fox as odd as it looked btw

r|t|c, Saturday, 21 January 2017 10:19 (seven years ago) link

rly looking forward to our game fyi. think we hit on something genuinely v promising in the last game vs reading - hall anchor/sweeper, luongo and manning box-to-box, furlong at rb, and 2 workhorse wing-forwards let us go 433, 451, 343 during play quite well imo.

proper stress test now vs probably best midfield in the division on their day, could get mullered back to square one, could enshrine the blueprint for the next 18 months. plus fulham are flaky up front and in defence, plus it's a derby, plus the utter cunt powers that only bloody gave us keith stroud again...

r|t|c, Saturday, 21 January 2017 10:42 (seven years ago) link

*powers that be

r|t|c, Saturday, 21 January 2017 10:43 (seven years ago) link

keith stroud should have been given the season off after last week

morgan fox to wednesday was a bit weird, but frame it as 'decent defensive young full-back with a fairly good cross and height at set-pieces' and marry it to wednesday's weird hoarding policy and you can see it as an investment. this is the club where reda johnson became a thing remember. obviously our morons are desperately casting about for someone else to scream abuse at when they haven't done anything wrong. ah well. we'll always have his goal against your lot eh lol

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 11:11 (seven years ago) link

at least stroud will have time to get home and watch mike dean promoted to reffing the champions of europe vs barnsley

meanwhile our game has been called off. apparently we deliberately failed to connect a boiler to our undersoil heating in the hope that it'd be called off. one way to manage an injury crisis. wtf am i going to do with my saturday now though

r|t|c, Saturday, 21 January 2017 13:29 (seven years ago) link

fair draw, tho fulham are weasels and stroud it goes without saying was abysmal (running handbags on pitch and touchline by the end, bircham sent off for his troubles)

shape and pressing vg, not quite slick enough to counter effectively with mackie and sylla having donkey days and wszolek peripheral. i'm encouraged

r|t|c, Saturday, 21 January 2017 15:24 (seven years ago) link

haha what, cairney isn't an automatic scotland starter, that's kind of amazing. are they just playing kirk broadfoot in attacking midfield by this point

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 15:29 (seven years ago) link

also i notice cousins is no longer in the picture. you dare loan him to bolton

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 15:34 (seven years ago) link

Doherty is an atrocious full back, quite simply he cannot defend. He can't run, turn, mark, tackle or hold position and his attitude is abysmal.

Doherty wins another penalty, dude has been player of the season since these bizarre ramblings first appeared

In the Ways of John Scales (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 21 January 2017 16:20 (seven years ago) link

Think Wolves players feel it was a dive. Ikeme adjudged to have brought Hoolahan down. Sees red. All subs made. Doherty in goal.

i'll just keep my mouth shut

Karl Henry ✔ @karlhenry08
@WestLondonSport Ian came in and started slating previous managers. I told him to stop being disrespectful! Hence, we've not got on since.

r|t|c, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 13:48 (seven years ago) link

"I wouldn’t have re-signed Karl. I would not have signed on someone who’s 34-stroke-35 and not given him another opportunity to play. Karl knows this.

“But Jimmy decided to do that. What can I say? Is Jimmy right or wrong? It’s not even relevant. The fact is I want to play a different way than Jimmy did.”

“Karl’s having a think about the rest of his life. Does he need to do this now? He’s had a very, very good career."
