Our win today makes officially mathematically safe. I'm pretty sure we're first in the country, though I haven't checked anywhere below Step 8.

Steven Fletcher, Lucas Joao, Marco Matias, Gary Hooper, Atdhe Nuhui, Fernando Forresteri, and now Winnall has gone to Wednesday :(

How many more forwards do they need ffs, jealous really because we are making do with one and are being linked with a D Ward return after getting priced out on Winnall.

izzy brown's nae bad tbf calz

r|t|c, Thursday, 12 January 2017 14:45 (seven years ago) link

I suppose so, but he is still very young + on a learning curve, he might not be as consistent as Palmer has been if what some Millers fans say about him is right. And if Nahki goes to Norwich, like has been rumoured, we will be totally knacked. Hopefully Wagner can dig up another Bundesliga bargain a la Kachunga - cos the championship market is way too inflated for us to compete.

calzino, Thursday, 12 January 2017 14:55 (seven years ago) link

Tbf on Ward it sounds like he has got his act together at Rotherham. He was always very talented but lazy and unfit when we last had him. But it seems like the most likely to happen transfer for us, he still lives in the area and isn't spotted filling his face in Nandos every night like he used to. I don't feel guilty about us taking Rotherham's best players because they are doomed anyway. But poor Barnsley are only 4 pts off Wednesday.

calzino, Thursday, 12 January 2017 15:16 (seven years ago) link

we are playing reading away tonight, and i happily admit my anticipation for the fixture rests entirely on the vague possibility of an orange ball

I was just listening to some riveting bbc live reportage from Bedford where it was reported that the snow is "quite heavy but not really settling".

ONE JAMIE MACKIE

quality goal

r|t|c, Thursday, 12 January 2017 20:31 (seven years ago) link

So Chery is off to China as well isn't he? Amazing.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 12 January 2017 20:37 (seven years ago) link

that was a fucking great performance. properly organised full press, committed defending, bang on

been a while since charlie left but i am happy to announce pawel wszolek is officially my new man crush. like a big handsome unstoppable polish train steaming up and down that right side. (jamie mackie in one of the most seemingly cokeheaded postmatch interviews ever seen was informed wszolek was motm and walked away saying "animal, animal"). full marks to darnell furlong behind him too

slowly and shakily, in ollie we trust

r|t|c, Thursday, 12 January 2017 22:15 (seven years ago) link

fucking great result is that!

calzino, Thursday, 12 January 2017 22:21 (seven years ago) link

yann kermorgant really deserves the last ten years of his career back btw, it is a global disgrace to football that he's 35

Henri Lansbury's exit from Nottingham Forest is being negotiated by a former team-mate in an apparent breach of Football Association rules.

The player involved is Rotherham striker Dexter Blackstock.

One Premier League club has walked away from a deal after discovering that Blackstock was representing Lansbury in his move from Nottingham Forest.

Another Championship club has confirmed that they were told to contact the 30-year-old Millers’ striker if they wanted to sign Lansbury.

The FA did not wish to comment, but their rules state: “Only individuals and companies registered with The FA as intermediaries are authorised to conduct Intermediary Activity on behalf of Players and Clubs playing football in England.”

Lansbury’s licensed agent is Simon Kennedy.

There's a [money grabbing twat] in mi kitchen what am I gonna do? Phone Derby for starters mate :p

calzino, Saturday, 14 January 2017 01:40 (seven years ago) link

might as well just get it over with and let Forestieri have a free goal, then proceed with the game.

calzino, Saturday, 14 January 2017 15:12 (seven years ago) link

total 27 min Vaughan blitzreig against Posh today, some days he is awesome.

calzino, Saturday, 14 January 2017 15:45 (seven years ago) link

we definitely didn't need our best player to do his ankle after ten minutes. at least his replacement is tony watt. classic wrestling flourish waiting to happen

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 14 January 2017 16:00 (seven years ago) link

desperate times, down to 10 men and reduced to playing an old knackered CB lag as a forward for the last 5 mins. But oddly it sounds like an equaliser might be on.

calzino, Saturday, 14 January 2017 16:47 (seven years ago) link

lol no equaliser, just the obligatory controversial Forestieri goal.

calzino, Saturday, 14 January 2017 16:52 (seven years ago) link

r|t|c, Saturday, 14 January 2017 19:27 (seven years ago) link

ikr?

that right there is why i'd take Lambo over Brucey any day tho. mission now is to win the trust of the Fosun boys so we can get some more of that sweet investment cash come summer

Costa's one of those lads in FM with phat looking stats and you've had him for a month until you notice Teamwork 4

It looks like we are going for a Bundesliga II striker - Terrence Boyd and QPR are in for Ward now. Apparently we wouldn't pay the 2m + or whatever Rotherham wanted for him, it looked nailed on that he was coming back last week even his brother was saying he was returning.

calzino, Monday, 16 January 2017 11:40 (seven years ago) link

we'll not spend that much. reported rejected bid is £1.3m

some are saying you have a 40% sell-on on him

r|t|c, Monday, 16 January 2017 14:32 (seven years ago) link

yeah we definitely have a high sell-on because he was our 2nd biggest ever transfer fee when he signed from Bolton, I think our chairman stated at the time we took a loss on him but put a high sell on in case he got his act together. I'd still have him back, he was very inconsistent and lazy, but never any doubt on his ability. Some of our lot are very hostile to him but he had about 7 goals and 12 assists (or something like that) in his last season for us and this was when he wasn't even firing on all cylinders.

calzino, Monday, 16 January 2017 14:58 (seven years ago) link

wiki says he got 10 goals in his penultimate season for us - probably the one I'm thinking of.

calzino, Monday, 16 January 2017 15:04 (seven years ago) link

imo he could be the shrewd bargain of the window. If he was a Derby player his value would be inflated to 6m probably.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jan/19/millwall-stadium-false-funding-claims-the-den

According to documents seen by the Guardian, even as the foundation was being awarded half a million pounds by Lewisham council in July 2014 its website still listed its phone number as 01234657890, which connected to an automated message advertising that number for sale. On the same website the Surrey Canal Sport Foundation’s official address was recorded as 29 Acacia Road; an apparently unconnected location in north London that appears, in a bizarre detail, to be a bodged version of the home address of the cartoon superhero Bananaman.

r|t|c, Thursday, 19 January 2017 21:04 (seven years ago) link

The foundation does have fine aims for its future expansion. Currently it hosts the London Thunder basketball team and has 20 ping-pong tables available for public use.

this was the best & saltiest bit

Rotherham boss Paul Warne has slapped a £5million price tag on sought-after striker Danny Ward.

r|t|c, Thursday, 19 January 2017 21:24 (seven years ago) link

I see Smithies has finally settled in the South, he must have found out they have cricket clubs and places almost as weird as the Holme Valley down there in Windsor as well.

If we aren't signing Ward a desperate deadline day bidding war for him wouldn't harm us financially. It looks like we are still after Boyd, but talks have stalled over wages/contract length or something. I think I'd actually prefer Ward tbh, cos Boyd looks like a decent targetman type, but poor with the ball at his feet. I just feel Wagner could turn Ward into a right player and he is more versatile and could play behind Nahki or be cover.

calzino, Thursday, 19 January 2017 22:55 (seven years ago) link

plucky upstarts wednesday with a bench of david jones, callum mcmanaman, steven fletcher and gary hooper tonight

r|t|c, Friday, 20 January 2017 19:49 (seven years ago) link

They have a very mean ass defence, Forestieri's incessant diving still often goes on un-checked, like you say an embarrassment of options on the bench, Winnall chomping at the bit, they soaked up everything we threw at them .. you got hell on!

calzino, Friday, 20 January 2017 20:06 (seven years ago) link

or at least Brighton have, this has 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it.

calzino, Friday, 20 January 2017 20:11 (seven years ago) link

Vaughany on for another hattrick tonight, he might play his way out of L1 at this rate. Then get injured again probably.

jesus reading about the brighton game...feels like one of those 'ok yeah they're going up' moments

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 03:16 (seven years ago) link

hughton may have limitations* but he gives a team backbone, even when it hasn't really existed before

*wondering if he isn't that rarest of things, an underrated british manager**

**there's a fairly blatant reason why this might be the case

illbient microtonal poetry Surbiton (imago), Saturday, 21 January 2017 03:21 (seven years ago) link

idk i think he's rated about right m/l? seems he may have evolved a bit (newcastle and norwich were steady hand on the tiller jobs, and the latter were unreasonably pedestrian in the prem), this brighton side have a bit more devil than his usual collectively (gaming the ref all the bloody time) and individually (knockaert). also impressive that he brought on solly march with 10v11 at 1-1 last night

shame they didnt get pritchard, would have been interesting
