Kinda surprised how underrepresented the year's big prestige emo albums are on a lot of these lists. But that may just be a reflection of the fact that 2016 was a strong year for a lot of music

Why the fuck are the Fat White Family on any of these lists? They're awful. I played with them once and as soon as they got there they asked the promoter where to score crack and then bounced w/o a soundcheck. Their music was horrible.

That sounds kind of like the essence of 2016 to me.

i love bandcamp so much of late, so much of my listening comes directly from there. am kind of surprised how much of the stuff on their list i already knew about/loved that i _didn't_ get to through bandcamp, though!

whats up with quietus's #1 Årabrot - The Gospel? track 3 almost sounds like 90s alternative grunge metal

Arabrot is a headscratch record... feels like a contrarian statement to have that one on 1 but hey the rest of the list is good and at last I see an indie-focused list without that painfully average Car Head Seatrest album.

<3 Doran and the gang but this happened with Grumbling Fur a few years ago and appears to be based largely on friendship with the band in question. Which is probably fine, these bands often require a boost, although I've not liked either record myself.

That Grumbling Fur album was great though.
