Couldn't resist this one.

Hi all, just in case anyone wasnt aware, this thread's apparently hit memepool, slashdot and Fark. Those of you hosting your own pics like I was might want to move them elsewhere - I got hit with a gig of bandwidth for one small jpg in less than a month =)

Trayce, I'm not seeing this on mempool or /.

no tech! (ex machina), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:02 (eighteen years ago) link

It's actually on Metafilter, but not memepool or Slashdot. (I talked to Trayce on MSN last night and she had just found out that her friend had used "slashdotted" as a generic for "it has appeared on blogs omg!", if I remember correctly.)

You can find out some of the blogs and aggregators where it has appeared here.

While many great people have come up with contributions here, I can't help that a lot of nastiness has suddenly arisen on ILM coincidentally (or not, which is my point) after this thread has gotten blog-linked all over.

Or is it just me?

donut e- (donut), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:54 (eighteen years ago) link

I wondered the same thing myself, to be honest.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:05 (eighteen years ago) link

Uh, yeah, if you dudes who posted in this thread haven't checked your bandwidth usage lately, now would be a good time. This ate up three gigs of my bandwidth before I realized it. That's why I moved mine to my blog.

Yea, my webserver log report is kinda silly now:

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Pleasant Plains of Arkansas, USA has been namechecked by Yo La Tengo. Let's hear it for Mister Plains! (Scroll down to the bottom.)

PP, does ImageShack not have bandwidth limits or something?

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Friday, 8 July 2005 20:18 (eighteen years ago) link

Whoa, Rock Hardy. I'm glad they liked it.

I don't know what kind of bandwidth limits Imageshack imposes except that I still see really old pics that I've posted through them still showing up on the web. With the popularity of this thread, maybe they won't last as long, but it doesn't surprise me that for the time being, my imageshack stuff is still here.

Why don't you try using punctuation and caps lock **off**, professor? Or maybe "HTML NIMROD" is some new code that I also really don't know.

the donny shaft, Monday, 1 August 2005 20:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Before you learn HTML NIMROD, maybe you should learn BASIC HTML.
