Charlie Morton was top 5 (min. 50 thrown) in curve spin last year (2990 RPM). The Astros threw more curves as last year went on. Easy fit.

I love Cecil but $30M is kind of ridic.

I don't get that Brett Cecil signing at all looking at his stats. Was he hurt in 2016?

yeah, hurt at the end of the 2015 season and then another injury (lat, i think) in the first part of 2016. even with that, his peripherals for the whole year were decent (28.7 K%, 1.28 WHIP) and when he was healthy in the second half he was elite (35.9 K%, 1.06 WHIP). and of course, he was very good in 2013-15.

4 years is a lot for a reliever, but i guess several other teams were offering 3 years so that's what they had to do to land him.

Cardinals can make all the dumb deals they want. Their bullpen has been pretty bad the past couple years, so I could see getting an arm, but it seems kind of stiff for a guy that looks to be kind of a loogy.
