mhmm. i just had some steak too, and am hoping for a good drink by the end of the night. i don't know how this will happen yet.

i feel i've been drinking 2 much liquor. i could really go for some wine actually. i should seize the sentiment considering i'm not always up for wine.

Ugh, the rain. Way to start the holiday weekend! Two and a half hour rain delay at the ball game, lightening shorts out the main scoreboard. They have the fireworks before it starts to keep the natives from getting too restless. The team could barely put together two runs, and the first hit by the opponents is a home run. Sat in a section with a lot of Korean fans because Chan Ho Park was pitching. He managed to get nine strikeouts, but with no support from his team it was a wash.

Best moment of the game: Park gets caught in a rundown on his way to first. He starts running toward home and tags, evenb though this won't do him a damn bit of good. The first baseman turns around to head back to the bag and Chan Ho starts up the baseline again! We got a big laugh from it, though his expression never changed at all.

Translation for non-baseball fans: a lovely night out with perfect weather after a horrendous storm, home waaaay later than planned.

patita, Saturday, 1 September 2007 06:05 (sixteen years ago) link

That sounds like a suckass night out.

Mister M and I are going into Dublin today to the cinema and out to dinner. Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary.

accentmonkey, Saturday, 1 September 2007 07:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Maria, we'll hold a benefit for you because of your Internet-related lost wages. It's no different than having a kid with cancer.

Beth Parker, Saturday, 1 September 2007 14:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Happy Anniversary!

Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs Monkey!

I am just finishing off my 2nd bottle of wine in your honour :)

onimo, Sunday, 2 September 2007 01:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Happy anniversary! We finally drank a bottle of wine that I received as a birthday present over a month ago. Lovely. We went out to the Jamaican restaurant up the street, BYOB because it's a dry town. So I'll cinsuder (whoa, awesome typo, I think I'll leave it there) it our monkey anniversary dinner!

Beth Parker, Sunday, 2 September 2007 01:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Ooh happy anniversary dear Monkeys! Hope the cinema and meal were fabulous :)

we're staying in tonight, as our luck seems better that way.

patita, Sunday, 2 September 2007 01:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Aw, you guys and the niceness. Thanks.

In the end we didn't go out. I was a bit too periodic for the trip into town, so we stayed home and I cooked lovely dinner (free range organic pork sausages with mashed potato and a relish of cranberries, leek, apple, and maple syrup) and we watched Gilmore Girls and drank maple wine (not, perhaps, the most successful wine in the world, but interesting). It was a lovely evening.

Right now this second, Mister M is making wild mushroom omelettes for breakfast. Later we are going to my mother's for dinner where I can hear all about the Edinburgh Fringe this year.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 2 September 2007 07:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Happy Monkey Anniversary.

That sounds like it should be an actual one, for a set number of years, where people buy you monkeys.

aldo, Sunday, 2 September 2007 09:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Maple wine? If I was the sort to use worried-face emoticons, there'd be a whole herd of 'em right here:

Happy anniversary, Trish and Mr. Monkey!

I've been in Atlanta all weekend, a trip planned at the last minute. Made it a grocery run -- Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Super H Mart (Korean megamarket) and of course the Dekalb Farmers Market, the be-all and end-all. I am so freaking tired I can't see straight.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 3 September 2007 02:01 (sixteen years ago) link

sounds rewarding tho =)

Surmounter, Monday, 3 September 2007 02:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow, it's luck Mr. Beth Parker found you, Beth. Otherwise his facial tattoo would be a little awkward.

BILL CLINTON!!!!! Holy crap!

Happy Labor Day, U.S.A.ers.

accentmonkey, Monday, 3 September 2007 09:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Haha, I just overheard the Office Casual Girl I've mentioned before for the first time in ages:

"Yeah, we always go on holiday in Britain, because I couldn't use the toilets abroad. I couldn't put my bum somewhere knowing a foreigner had sat there before me."

aldo, Monday, 3 September 2007 11:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Can you get her to repeat that into a tape recorder, please? We need to sample it.

Beth and her dinnermate are about to arm wrestle; Mr. BP is pointing that out.

Maria :D, Monday, 3 September 2007 14:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I crushed him completely. He's still lying under the table at The Sand Bar, cradling his shattered arm and weeping.

Beth Parker, Monday, 3 September 2007 14:09 (sixteen years ago) link

It's his own look out.

It looks like Miss Lorelai Gilmore Brady Byrne is in perfect, tip top health after all. Her brush with ringworm was either very slight, or some other problem, because it's pretty much cleared up now. She will now start the long, slow process of assimilation into the pack.

accentmonkey, Monday, 3 September 2007 15:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Lovely Bill pics Beth! I'm always happy to see him on the news lately trailing around after Hillary with a goofy smile on his face eating chili or something.

ugh, it's a holiday right? so far the weekend's been lovely if rainy. Done lots of cooking and drinking. And of course I've put off homework until the last minute. Why am I doing this to myself?!? This is the worst class for me to take ever. My almost-34-yr-old brain is rebelling every step of the way saying "I DON'T CARE!!"

I checked the MBA - Information Mgmt program I've been considering and they recommend a knowledge of Calculus but require no formal coursework. hmm. However I don't think you can work fulltime while in that program and it's currently $10k a semester. bleargh.

maybe I should just get an English master's, teach community college, start a small DIY sewing business and be done with it.

I think the boy and I are going clothes shopping soon. We must fulfill the ultimate American meaning of holidays such as Labor Day.

kisses no loco folks.

Ms Misery, Monday, 3 September 2007 15:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Today the mister and myself have to shop for toys! One of our friends just had a baby, so there will be some time spent at the hospital as well. I've also brought home some work, but nothing too taxing. SeƱor Patita will play video games and wash dishes.

Ms. Miz, I went back to the pet store yesterday to ogle the bunnies and play with adoptable puppies :)

patita, Monday, 3 September 2007 16:23 (sixteen years ago) link

K, you should volunteer at Town Lake.

(I'm back at my desk again after a carrot cake break. Not sure how long I will last.)

Today the mister and myself have to shop for toys!

I spent all day today shopping for toys. Five birthdays in a month: our three plus two nieces. We spent a small fortune :(

Great Clinton pics Beth! Up close and personal with the most powerful saxophonist in teh world! I never noticed before he has a dimple right on the end of his nose. Love that pink house too.

Happy Labour Day ya durned yankees (and Ms. Mis-confederate-y).

just got in from djing in completely empty club, well, 10 people or so as everyone is at a festival, plus it's a thursday night. was the worst most boring club experience of my life.

-- Ronan, Friday, 31 August 2007 03:11 (Friday, 31 August 2007 03:11)

Festival was amazing. I am broken in many ways. Saw a lot of great bands (didn't go to either Jesus & Mary Chain or Primal Scream, sorry Ailsa). Met the lead singer of Hot Chip and demanded he played 'Colours' next time. It appears I look like him but I believe that this is wrong. I am taller, hotter and could take him in a fight (all three of those are actually true because I R HARD, HAWT & HI IN DA SKY). He was alright though, in the crowd for Bjork (big disappointment as people would not STFU. I left because I couldn't really hear. Actually the sound was pretty bad a lot of times, had to leave The Go! Team and Clap your hands say yeah (Actually I left that gig because it was boring). Iggy and The Stooges were fun, he's amazing on stage. I was nearly throttled because I couldn't stop shouting "Well COME ON!" a la 'Be your dog' for the rest of the evening. I drank many interesting things, avoided the drugs (so many drugs, there has to be some kind of spike in e production in August getting ready for this thing. Loads of cocaine as well, such an unpleasant drug to be near :( ). As I think of them during the day I'll try and remember the bands. Great craic altogether though. Oh yeah, the Beastie Boys were fantastic on both occasions.

I have pictures but sadly the policy of never putting my, or anyone else's face, on the internet means that most of them will be unusable. I'll see what I can salvage though. I might *gasp* Put the videos on my shiny new blog if only to increase the number of posts!

Sausages = a friend's dad (farmer by trade) called them "Skins of mystery". Very true! Yet I love them so. They were my brekkie for the past four days. I think I'm in withdrawal.

Speaking of ATP, teh_kit friended me on teh_fasebuk! His picture there is adorable.

-- accentmonkey, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:34 (Friday, 31 August 2007 15:34)

Meh 2!i! great pic of him and ms_teh_kit.

I just got a couple of emails from a very very old friend. Seriously, knew this guy from when I was 7. I was amazed at the warmth I felt reading his email knowing that he was doing really well. Savage altogether! On another note my highly educated cousin writes like a fucking muppet, unbelievable.

Miss Lorelai Gilmore Brady Byrne is in perfect, tip top health after all

Pix plz of gorgeous kitteh. Also lucky you with new laptop. Still have to fix mine at home. Desktop feels so limiting. I blame that for lack of 'zine needless to say!

I am back, thread. I am glad to see that you have all been behaving and cooking some seriously amazing things.

I REAFFIRM MY POSITION RE. FISH = TASTE OF PISSED ON LAMB. THAT IS ALL.

Actually, let's not get into this argument again. It doesn't take much to get Aldo to produce his Gentleman's relish *BOOM BOOM* Thankyouverymuchyouvebeenalovelyaudience...

Welcome back kv_lol

How could you miss teh Mary Chain? Ailsa saw them on Friday. I R jealous. I bought a remastered Darklands from Monsieur Le Fopp and contented myself with listening to that and drinking lots of wine.
