oh dear, sometimes there is a new manager bounce and it isn't the best time to play a side. I didn't realise that Charlton were known as the robins as well.

classic L1 table that, everyone from the middle downwards either 3 pts from relegation or pushing for playoffs.

i'm sure you've all been really missing the ollyisms over the last decade so

"This is a working mans club that people would die for. [...] I've painted a picture in my brain of the QPR badge up on a mantelpiece covered in gold. It needs to be looked after and worshipped."

I'd take Peter Jackson back for a third time over Sherwood. If he could be persuaded to leave the care home he is currently managing in Brighouse that is. Ollie's Colin Hunt routine does my head in, but him not being Sherwood is cavernous gap on the rungs of twatdom imo.

The clown show continues

(right decision though - Slade was beyond useless)

(well, the right if completely clownish decision; there was no right move really)

chris o'loughlin.... the random toadies are getting more interesting at least

r|t|c, Monday, 14 November 2016 19:08 (seven years ago) link

I've never rated Slade and when some of his awful sides did inflict damage on us it was more an indictment of our own decline.

Back in those halcyon days at Scarborough it sometimes seemed Slade was destined for much bigger things...

calzino, Monday, 14 November 2016 20:05 (seven years ago) link

I know these new manager betting markets are 90% clickbait (Bubba Watson's papacy betting etc) but there does seem to be something to o'loughlin's favouritism.

AS Vita came calling again in January 2011, which surprisingly led to another stint at the club. Chris led the Congolese giants to another title challenge which went down to the final day of the season. They just needed a win and they would be champions, but a 0-0 draw was all they could muster.

“Prior to the game I walked out into the stadium and there were about 50,000 in there that day and they were singing my name and all that stuff, we drew 0-0 and afterwards a riot broke out and we had to leave in army trucks. That was enough for me.”

little does he know... that nothing can prepare him... for the lacerating wit of CARD

tbf having just seen the difference a new manager can make i can say with some certainty that norwich could have had 15 men on the pitch and still been rubbish. neil is a goner

(really was exceptionally gracious of him to leave out pritchard, jerome, hoolahan and klose though)

It sounds like we were giving free headers to Morrison and Lambert in the box every set-piece. Obv the rudiments of defending set-pieces is too much for some of these thick fuckers, Morrison had already had 2 free headers on target before he scored. Hopefully they will show Billing's 2nd wonderstrike since his debut to cheer me up later.

Once it became apparent that we were looking for a British manager ideally with experience of the Championship - whether this is the right mindset for the club to have is up for debate - consensus really was that he was probably the best of a bad bunch.

agree with this and have said it, except I'm sure that having a British manager with experience of the Championship is bollocks.

He hasn't had a honeymoon period and he isn't going to get one now because we've had two games, no goals, hardly any shots and he's already got people unhappy with his selections and comments on our squad. He must know that if he fails here, that's him done for quite some time with decent sized clubs so it defies belief that he would carry on this way. It's whether Villa made him a fundamentally broken man, which seems more than possible at the moment.

agreed, am already seriously contemplating his sacking.

What sticks in the craw most is that we've reverted back to picking loads of the players who were here last season (more on whom later). But since we sold Afobe, we've picked up 42 points from 39 games. It's very much relegation form for almost an entire calendar year and it's this lot that are the key contributors to that. They aren't any good.

yes yes yes

his opinion about Matt Doherty is pretty controversial, most Wolves fans still rate Matt I think, especially amongst the squad as it currently exists. Iorfa's form has been horrible this season, can't believe he's still playing. He's cock on about most of the rest, especially Dave Edwards and Danny Batth
