What compels Derby, or any club, to still let Mclaren loose on their training grounds in 2016? Is he just part of English football silverware? We hate him but it's Schteve? Dang.
― the tightening is plateauing (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 12 October 2016 15:51 (seven years ago) link
Now that Warnock is at Cardiff I could see Derby getting pulled into the shit. They really shouldn't with that squad but I have a lot of faith in Mclaren.
― calzino, Wednesday, 12 October 2016 16:01 (seven years ago) link
wow. there was some speculation that the dressing room had been pulling a chelsea ever since he was sacked...
every player under him has said he is a great training ground coach, even at newcastle iirc

NIGEL PEARSON had to be physically restrained as his furious bust-up with Derby chairman Mel Morris last week almost came to blows.
Pearson had launched a foul-mouthed tirade tearing into his Derby flops in the dressing room after the 2-1 home defeat to Blackburn a week last Saturday.
The 53-year-old then publicly criticised them on TV as the result had left the Midlands club with one win in nine games and in the relegation zone.
It is believed that seven Derby players then went to Morris on the Sunday to revolt against Pearson, claiming they no longer wanted to play for him.
Morris called a meeting on the Monday morning with the ex-Leicester chief, which became extremely heated and the pair had to be separated to prevent a physical altercation.

lol
still haven't decided how i feel about the decision to bring him in. i mean on the one hand, it's Steve Bruce ffs. but then on the other i'm not sure who the hell else would be caught dead in the Villa dugout these days, and Brucie seems to be kinda zeitgeisty atm what with this whole (alleged) po-mo football-murder-mystery cult hero status, so why the fuck not? should be good for a few laughs.
― Windsor Davies, Saturday, 15 October 2016 17:40 (seven years ago) link
i can't lie, never want Brucey at my club, but he's a boat-steadier and he'll get any team up the Champo i think

1-1
feel like we've dropped points
something really good looks like it's coalescing but i don't understand why we can't start games the way we played in the 2nd half here

― calzino, Sunday, 16 October 2016 12:31 (seven years ago) link
awful game today, lots of meaningless possession while Wednesday sat deep and counterattacked and easily dealt with the laboured hoofs to Mooy. It was amusing when Wagner sent written tactical instructions on with Heff and Wallace knicked it. It literally would have said "sent the 2 big lumps into the box and go direct", lol thats how we roll.

It seemed at the time that Wallace was either struggling to read it or was incredulous that this Klopp acolyte was basically instructing them to keep fucking lumping it into the mixer!
