alex ward trios & sextet - entities (my music listening is really haphazard, relying mainly on ilm, but also fortunate enough to have some friends who make music. this is one branch of alex's stuff, half composed half improvised, sitting between classical and jazz. sparse, wintry, difficult. bandcamp link here. great antidote to any richness or sentimentality you may encounter this christmas)

beethoven - 3rd movement (a holy song of thanksgiving to the deity in the lydian mode). (watched the goddard self-portrait JLG/JLG the other night, which was amazing, and featured this, reminding me of its transcendent awesomeness, so gave it another listen. it was transcendently awesome again.)

the levitts - the saints of my city are children (hippies! find this song peculiarly adaptable to winter days - no idea why as it's such an obviously summery song. i think i have 70s film versions of winter new york in my head when i hear it)

angela hunte, machel montano - party done (really fucked off a friend earlier this year by just going 'party done done done' all the time on a walk in the country, also this song really lets go a couple of times which never fails to give me a huge buzz)
