can't remember if I posted this already but for a hip electronic dude Todd Tjere really threw it back with this title/art combo

that egan cover is so bad you want to believe they were offering some kind of ill-advised commentary on those attitudes. but it is just about doin it with two cheerleaders.

it's album time, though -- that is genius.

tylerw, Wednesday, 14 September 2016 19:57 (seven years ago) link

Howard Werth, "6ix Of 1ne And ½ A Dozen Of The Other"

stellar example.

it's album time is a great title, cover, and album! strongly recommended. thanks ILM year-end polls for turning me onto terje generally.

I can't believe I JUST got the pun in "Fundamental Roll." Album cover aside, that first Egan album is a wonderful slice of Buddy Holly-influenced pop rock, recommended if you're into Marshall Crenshaw and/or Nick Lowe. (Or Fleetwood Mac.)

Speaking of "roll" puns, I noted the Brand X pun that took me years to get - Moroccan Roll = more rock and roll, in the puns you had missed thread.

Janne Schaffer - Earmeal (1978)

Original Swedish album cover; US version is a sad Hard Day's Night ripoff (the "bunch of portrait shots from the same shoot, with the film border and stuff" genre).

Yeah that might epitomize the 80s continuation/transformation of this aesthetic. Grayer and more brightly-lit, but otherwise the same old shit.
