nukey are good, probably the best this league has seen, but unlike us maybe try give them a game at least and see what happens. as the loftforwords match report put it, "I felt like a child watching his dad get beaten up for the first time. God I still love you Dad but don’t just let him hit you like that."

expect mooy will fuck us today like shelvey did

'grats NV, this is a great result

re: poor Windsor Davies and his broken Aston Villa side, I confess that there is a masochistic side of me that is somewhat enjoying all this. if nothing else it means I can dive wholeheartedly and without feeling like a hypocrite into the "look lads, until you've been out there in the pissing rain on a bleak weeknight watching your team getting beat 2-0 at home by Coventry City you just don't know what it is to be a real English football fan" routine with which I bore all my irl friends who support Man Utd and Arsenal and whinge about the way things are going in the EPL.

this fucking league

you can't drowned a duck (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 17 September 2016 16:46 (seven years ago) link

the 2-1 result definitely flattered QPR today, probably some similarities with Wagner's main bro's 2-1 win last night in terms of first half domination/2nd half throwing a bone to the opposition. From where I was sitting it looked a clear Grant Hall handball, but tbf the ref was decent and did a fair job of letting the game flow mostly. I had to leave 10 minutes early but it sounded like we can close out games these days.

I should be in a happy mood today but we took a short cut off the beaten track on the way home and accidentally disturbed a wasp's nest on the ground and got attacked by a swarm of the bastards. I've got about 10 stings across my back and my arse and I had to mostly carry the screaming kid home. Fuck you wasps for ruining what was previously a jolly good day.

Congrats to Wolves for helping to weaken the Wehrmacht Utd myth as well.

calzino, Saturday, 17 September 2016 20:07 (seven years ago) link

To say we squeaked through today is an understatement. Tried to sit back at 2-1 and played far too deep, their equaliser felt inevitable. Then winning it with a potentially undeserved penalty as the last kick of the valley. Seen a photo since (in clear and obvious breach of the FA rules) that shows it could have been ball to hand, but the most damning thing about the pic is that the defender has spread himself pretty large.

FA rules you say? I avoided mentioning it in the last round but the FA are fucking dicks. At the moment it's still all well into non-league - the level above us is the highest. But the FA is forcing us all to adhere to the full standards package. This means, for example, you can't serve drinks in view of the pitch. This has led to teams having to temporarily board up windows.

Worse yet is the media policy. We have a pretty serious media presence, with multiple gopros set up leading to a very informed Twitter feed. But you're only allowed to put up still photos and video in the daylight hours of Sunday; less than 20 photos and less that 10 videos none of which can be longer than 30 seconds and with a combined run time of less than 3 minutes. In the last round Salisbury put up a clip on the Saturday night, and in the debate surrounding their tweet an FA spokesman said it was fine because the rules didn't apply until the third round, despite what the compliance document says. Then in the morning an FA Compliance Officer emailed them telling them to take it down or else. So much for supporting grass roots (see also kicking off an England match halfway through the FA Trophy final).

yeah we have a longstanding brexit cunt section for whom uncle neil may as well have taken over ukip. not-so-veiled remarks about les/jfh/ramsey jobs for the boys etc, culminating today in the almighty nazi olympus of a thread entitled "If JFH goes does Tottenham Les go too?". i don't know if i'm even able to articulate the pure sociopathy it takes for a qpr supporter to come out with that. fucking country is getting to me tbh

our board is pretty balanced between brexit and fuck brexit (11,000-post thread mind) but there's absolutely no challenging the now-universal orthodoxy of fuck belgiums and everything that goes wrong is belgiums fault and we've lost our soul and boooooooooooooooo

yeah but there are the usual suspects who wanted him replaced with a-manager-that-knows-the-Championship i.e. fucking Steve Bruce or something and players-that-understand-the-Championship i.e. whatever comedy fee they were asking for Rhodes plus the usually circulating shitkickers

plus every point dropped is like a death knell to some of our lot

you can't drowned a duck (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 18 September 2016 21:23 (seven years ago) link

Steve Bruce IN now............

Mendes has used us to clear duds he has foisted on other clubs. Fosun own 8% of the Mendes agency so they get some of their money back but this is rapidly turning into a joke situation.

His track record is not great and we need to press the eject button now to give someone better qualified a good chance of getting a play off berth.

If the new signings are what we have been led to believe then any combination of them should have enough quality to see off Barnsley. Obviously not. Is Zenga up to the task? Has he got the experience of English football and what is required to succeed. I have my doubts.

This guy has no track record and likely will just scream and hold his head. I have had a bet that we finish in bottom 3 and it looks good.

Better send for Brucie - which we should have done the minute he became available!

it goes on and on. that's from Tuesday night. i fucking despair, don't make me go back in there, please

r|t|c, Sunday, 18 September 2016 21:41 (seven years ago) link

it took our chairman five goes to realise that 90% of British managers are basically the same arrogant and lazy Brucie type bullshitters with varying levels of luck. Fuck knows why anyone would want him at their club.

Powell used to spend every week admiring the budgets of our opponents and reminding us of how we can't realistically compete with them. Glad to see now him and Pearson have endless money at candy crush they are competing so well. I am probably sounding smug here, but fuck it - even when we weren't top of the table last season it was clear we were witnessing our best manager since the pathe days.

football message boards all just seem the same mix of crypto-racism and reactionary fatuous nonsense these days. but idk maybe I'm being a look-back bore - but it did seem much less idiotic and more fun than they are now in the late 90's/early 00's Rivals messageboard era. ours went downhill after Sky bought Rivals and loads of decent posters either didn't migrate to the new board or became absolute tossers, I can't remember which.
