I like to think he saw this thread and it inspired him this evening. I was in the pub watching the Arsenal game at the weekend when he was coming on as a sub and totally lost the thread of my conversation when I looked up to see him on the touchline. Seriously, actual lolz at the sight of his face now.

my mate, the same one i tried to describe the famous arshavin photo too, supports liverpool and texted me after the game trying to change the subject telling me about the big fish in his nearby river. so i just replied with this picture..

For those not familiar with Mr Arshavin outside this thread, he just scored four goals against Liverpool at Anfield. For those not familiar with football, this isn't something which people do very often.

i think it's horrible that we keep insisting saying his name as arse shavin' when in fact it is apwabnh

it is probably one of the many things that have contributed towards him having that facial expression all the time

tbh whenever I look at that it makes me think of him saying "what? You thought Arshavin would not score against your country?" in a ridiculous cartoon Russian accent

last night every time he scored and did the finger to mouth thing i kept imagining that he would suddenly go into the head sideways jazz hands position but it never happened (unless i missed it)

yeah, I don't think the TV cameras actually picked up footage of the jazz hands celebration against Russia, and he seems to just shush constantly every other time he scores

I think more footballers should use wrestling heel-style crowd antagonising mannerisms, frankly, I'd be better disposed towards Lee Cattermole if he slowly pointed to his own head to indicate his smartness every time he hacked someone down

i think such tactics would work quite well tbh - the respective refs are of about the same level of competency afterall. i'm sure jamie carragher got away with a couple of steel chair shots in his time

(then threw the chair to the opposition and lied down when the referee turns back, and got the other guy sent off)
