Bradford City AFC ‏@officialbantams 37m
It is not an U23s match for Stoke tonight. Rules state they only have to name 6 starters under age of 21. #BCAFC

Bradford City AFC ‏@officialbantams 15m
@officialbantams We acknowledge fans' observations but tonight's match must be officially referred to as 'Bradford City v Stoke City' #BCAFC

Checkatrade.com ‏@Checkatrade 2h
@smiffo86 does that mean you will not be supporting YOUR club!

Danny Smith ‏@smiffo86 2h
@Checkatrade No, I will be. By ensuring they're not devalued through the introduction of B Teams and the #BTeamBoycott. You're deluded.

kodija deal completed. a fine new entry into A.V. Club's "The 50 best comedies since 2000"

scoff away! if we really are doomed to the confines of the EFL basement for the foreseeable then I intend to enjoy this hilarious superclub cosplay as much as possible

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 16:18 (seven years ago) link

Basement? Still waving your Billy Big Bollocks attitude about, I see :P

imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 17:31 (seven years ago) link

Leon Best to Ipswich is a signing that has that "EFL basement" charm to it. Presumably they will also be digging out Alan Lee's player registration for additional backup:P

I am glad the Kodjia deal is so ridic, we can hold out for just as much for Nahki and should do if these last minute desperados come for him.

calzino, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:26 (seven years ago) link

well look if it ain't a basement then what the hell is it?!

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:31 (seven years ago) link

Wasn't having a swipe, but there are 2 more relegations till you see the true basement or DIV 4 in old money.

calzino, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:38 (seven years ago) link

Goalless and we've just gone to penalties to see who gets 2 points, rather than 1, in our Checkatrade Trophy clash with Southampton U23s. I'm not there.

imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:41 (seven years ago) link

What is the attendance? I bet there have been some record lows.

calzino, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:45 (seven years ago) link

officially 1,300 which isn't quite the all-time low

southampton had the good grace to let their keeper take their 6th penalty, and he duly missed :)

imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:49 (seven years ago) link

a sense of the moment

imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:49 (seven years ago) link

xxp i'm only kidding btw calzino, this is all bravado and if there is one demographic i have nothin but contempt for and could happily talk down to, it is the arseholes who think that Villa are owed something due to the club's history etc. that said, i wasn't kidding earlier, it IS fun pretending to be a superclub, this is like when I got dropped to the bottom set of maths at school and suddenly i found myself a genius

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:50 (seven years ago) link

except we're still losing most games

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:51 (seven years ago) link

oops sorry.

Are Peterborough going to get fined for non trying tonight? I could imagine the (not ILX) DarraghMac telling them lose it.

calzino, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 21:11 (seven years ago) link

you're not allowed to have draws in the group stage of the Checkatrade? jesus lolled

Stearman coming home on a year-long loan???

rtc are you reading this

imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 22:00 (seven years ago) link

Three years and three months since officially retiring from playing, 43-year-old Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth stepped out on to a football pitch for the 601st time when he came on against Northampton on Tuesday.

Facing an injury crisis and with his side 2-0 ahead, former QPR midfielder Ainsworth came on as an 85th-minute substitute to help see out the game.

But wouldn't you just know it - he set up his side's third goal, laying the ball into the path of Garry Thompson to help end Northampton Town's 29-match unbeaten run.

imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 22:00 (seven years ago) link

it's all about group d of the southern section of the efl trophy :)

adama-adomah swap almost excuses the latter's base greed

r|t|c, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 12:31 (seven years ago) link

5m for adam reach from boro to sheff wed is eye-watering but good young player imo at least. pritchardesque investment

r|t|c, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 15:01 (seven years ago) link

7m for Ivan Cavaleiro, he'd better be as good as Steven Fletcher

cavalier...o spending more like!!

we signed a polish international winger on loan with a view to perm. looks v good

honestly i'm p delighted with our business this summer. hurrah for ffp. shame we'll prob beat the (now ludicrous) rap and backslide in january

r|t|c, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 16:44 (seven years ago) link

bodvarsson is good i gather?

r|t|c, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 16:44 (seven years ago) link

best of the new signings so far, too skillful to be a big but big enough to play up front in the Champo.

Len Wankobinc (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 31 August 2016 16:51 (seven years ago) link

must have been a close decision between stearman and mangala

r|t|c, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 17:07 (seven years ago) link

Stearman is definitely the odd one out in this bold new era, like really he was the best option available?

wan bobolink (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 31 August 2016 17:12 (seven years ago) link

and i like him, but

£9m fulham paid for chris martin

r|t|c, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 22:12 (seven years ago) link

well they are at least guaranteed a certain goal or two against one "higher table" side with that outlay.

really disappointed that Crouch to Leeds was bullshit.

calzino, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 22:17 (seven years ago) link

wondered whether we would go for a cheeky last minute Martin bid but bollocks to 9m tbh, i think the 11 or 12 we've bought should manage

wan bobolink (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 1 September 2016 05:57 (seven years ago) link

glad to have sold nobody and signed Wolf City

feared the worst when i saw the lookman palace rumour

r|t|c, Thursday, 1 September 2016 09:18 (seven years ago) link

our fans are experiencing a weird displacement of anti-katrien rage this morning. where to direct it? mostly derision at poor prodigal diego tbh

imago, Thursday, 1 September 2016 09:36 (seven years ago) link

i guess not even katrien could sanction the Worst Transfer Of All Time. like, imagine selling qpr's best player to chelsea (has this happened recently)

imago, Thursday, 1 September 2016 09:38 (seven years ago) link

not even best player more like youthful recherche of quick feet perdu

imago, Thursday, 1 September 2016 09:40 (seven years ago) link

loic remy, but it was impossible to get radge about an unusually graciously mannered mercenary

r|t|c, Thursday, 1 September 2016 10:18 (seven years ago) link

ya and he was hardly the starchild, the heart music, the raheem sterling

imago, Thursday, 1 September 2016 10:20 (seven years ago) link

will be a miracle if lookman somehow avoids going to chelsea to be loaned out interminably before ending up at palace at 26 tbh

r|t|c, Thursday, 1 September 2016 10:21 (seven years ago) link

interest from arsenal and spurs might indicate a path less travelled but that is always the fear yes

how likely is it that rules against chelsea's player farm will be put in place

imago, Thursday, 1 September 2016 10:48 (seven years ago) link

looking over the wreckage, it's pretty incredible how newcastle wednesday villa wolves have been recruiting not just big but also not in aid of a "missing piece of the jigsaw" style defined first xi either. everywhere just super bloated optionsssss. how many places can brendan rodgers be in at the same time?

r|t|c, Thursday, 1 September 2016 12:58 (seven years ago) link

yeah the daryl murphy signing is almost sublimely absurd, it's like he's being kept in store for burton away and burton away only

imago, Thursday, 1 September 2016 13:04 (seven years ago) link

it's like when chelsea signed parker, wright-phillips and sidwell basically so that charlton, man city and reading couldn't beat them again, except in the championship
