is it just me or did he not seem quite this much of a fuckwit before
mustve boiled away what little brains he had wearing his v neck sweater all year round

Yeah I ended up feeling bad for him when Swansea sacked him. Used to seem halfway competent too
― Ben Wankolinc (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 27 August 2016 19:47 (seven years ago) link
He must have known what he was walking into and his short term job security prospects, he is only cultivating the v-neck sweater look for his CV

just seen that thing in the mail mentioning by-the-by that rb leipzig had a 10m bid for reece oxford rejected. seems extraordinary if true. like i know rangnick's a spod but what data is he even looking at for that sort of punt

Transfer News Live @DeadlineDayLive 1hDEAL DONE: RB Leipzig have signed Nottingham Forest's Oliver Burke. Fee €12m. 5-year deal.
― r|t|c, Sunday, 28 August 2016 18:36 (seven years ago) link
BBC are reporting it as a £13m transfer .. wtf, it's like someone in charge has been drinking too much synthetic caffeine.
I wonder who is going to make the big-time desperado move for Rhodes in this window? It is not looking like any lower prem suitors will come knocking, he has sort of boxed himself into a Rhodes paradox or something.
― calzino, Sunday, 28 August 2016 21:22 (seven years ago) link
A bunch of cunts pn the Express & Star comments were still demanding that we sign Rhodes yesterday, despite the fact that half our new signings haven't had a start yet. Urge to kill rising etc
― Ben Lincowank (Noodle Vague), Monday, 29 August 2016 05:47 (seven years ago) link
Both Villa and Norwich are in the market for a striker, the former bidding for Hernandez. I reckon Rhodes has been reduced to a last ditch plan b for a few clubs and all the transfer action for him will be very late. We are short of a striker but I would imagine we will be looking at slightly cheaper options, possibly from the Bundesliga or other Euro leagues, although there is good chance we might be hitting the loan market instead.
Is Rhodes just about the only youngish footballer who never got into Twitter? It doesn't surprise me, he had a very fogeyish demeanour in his early 20's and lived in the Morris dancing district with his dad, the very same place Smithies probably still pines for!

burke sale prob means assombalonga's off the market unless fawaz has witness protection lined up
with forest and bristol c joining the scrum i see no sensible domestic business to be made
at least when albert adomah holds up his £8m villa shirt we'll all know what he'd really prefer

i'd like us to be in for nathan byrne, esp on loan, but (as with grant ward) the ppl in charge who should know him better than anyone don't seem to rate him. bezzies with luongo and gladwin too
also sweet ravel morrison who on one hand would be a stupid, inevitably self-harming signing but on the other is a vessel for god and all the seraphim singing gloria in kanchelskis so idk

scoff away! if we really are doomed to the confines of the EFL basement for the foreseeable then I intend to enjoy this hilarious superclub cosplay as much as possible
― Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 16:18 (seven years ago) link
Basement? Still waving your Billy Big Bollocks attitude about, I see :P
― imago, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 17:31 (seven years ago) link
Leon Best to Ipswich is a signing that has that "EFL basement" charm to it. Presumably they will also be digging out Alan Lee's player registration for additional backup:P
I am glad the Kodjia deal is so ridic, we can hold out for just as much for Nahki and should do if these last minute desperados come for him.
― calzino, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 20:26 (seven years ago) link

Goalless and we've just gone to penalties to see who gets 2 points, rather than 1, in our Checkatrade Trophy clash with Southampton U23s. I'm not there.

officially 1,300 which isn't quite the all-time low
southampton had the good grace to let their keeper take their 6th penalty, and he duly missed :)

a sense of the moment
xxp i'm only kidding btw calzino, this is all bravado and if there is one demographic i have nothin but contempt for and could happily talk down to, it is the arseholes who think that Villa are owed something due to the club's history etc. that said, i wasn't kidding earlier, it IS fun pretending to be a superclub, this is like when I got dropped to the bottom set of maths at school and suddenly i found myself a genius

Three years and three months since officially retiring from playing, 43-year-old Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth stepped out on to a football pitch for the 601st time when he came on against Northampton on Tuesday.
Facing an injury crisis and with his side 2-0 ahead, former QPR midfielder Ainsworth came on as an 85th-minute substitute to help see out the game.
But wouldn't you just know it - he set up his side's third goal, laying the ball into the path of Garry Thompson to help end Northampton Town's 29-match unbeaten run.
it's all about group d of the southern section of the efl trophy :)
