Possibly Rafa had benched Ritchie today because he expected an easy win. He is in for a bit of a shock in this division if he carries on in that fashion.

calzino, Saturday, 13 August 2016 16:24 (seven years ago) link

he'll not be there much longer at this rate

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 13 August 2016 16:25 (seven years ago) link

and finally they're up and running! a 3 goal win and a clean sheet at Villa Park! only Rotherham I know but i'm not used to this shit. didn't see the news yesterday so James Chester was a lovely surprise; might actually have a proper defence for the first time in 3 years. congrats to NV and calzino too. been a good day.

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 13 August 2016 16:27 (seven years ago) link

i rate Chester pretty high, we could certainly do with one or two like him

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 13 August 2016 16:31 (seven years ago) link

We play both Villa and Wolves in the next 3. The last time we played Villa is probably in the Pathe archives.

calzino, Saturday, 13 August 2016 16:41 (seven years ago) link

too early for these promotion 6 pointers dammit

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 13 August 2016 16:42 (seven years ago) link

you never know windsor, maybe after a couple more years down here you'll learn an opposition player's name too

Get used to that. There's a big disparity in quality between PL and Football League officials. Chasm in wages too, most are freelance. #nufc

at the risk of blowing my fun new gimmick, i should say that ime Villa fans are not feeling particularly entitled or superior this season and plenty of people are feeling pretty pessimistic about our chances of promotion. we're not Newcastle

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 13 August 2016 17:46 (seven years ago) link

Tbf the US Soccer fans on their way to shoot Mexicans at a Trump rally sound just like most Brit pundits

Now hearing suggestions of Newcastle interest in Fernando Forestieri. Ready to pay £12m apparently. #swfc

Rob Staton ‏@robstaton 5h
Fernando Forestieri NOT in the #SWFC squad vs Norwich. He hasn't travelled.

Rob Staton ‏@robstaton 5h
It's my understanding #SWFC have done everything that could be expected of them regarding this Forestieri situation. He didn't travel.

Dom Howson ‏@domhowson 1m1 minute ago
Carvalhal said he and Glenn Loovens persuaded Forestieri to play against Aston Villa. "He changed his mind," said CC. #SWFC #starlive

can't believe the interstitial music is literally an air raid siren over bin lid drumming. some lurker is trolling

Sílvio returned to Benfica on 10 July 2013, joining on a season-long move.[13] His spell was again marred by injuries, the most serious occurring on 10 April 2014 in a Europa League quarter-final match against AZ Alkmaar, when he fractured both the fibula and tibia on his right leg after missing the ball and kicking teammate Luisão instead.[14]

Benfica captain Luisao, 35, is reportedly set to sign a two-year deal worth £100,000 a week with Wolves.

r|t|c, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 11:09 (seven years ago) link

lol.

we certainly need at least one central defender, but i'm starting to take these links with a pinch of salt, Talisca is still out there in the contractual ether allegedly. E&S had us competing with you guys for Alfie Mawson yesterday.

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 16 August 2016 11:12 (seven years ago) link

i for one welcome our status as Benfica feeder/retirement home tbh

we'll have a sizeable dot in there soon enough

i'm chill at the moment because a) what can you do? b) at least one of the loanees already looks excellent and c) hopefully this is a means to an end rather than an endgame

Zenga is v likeable and people are finally getting something to enjoy at the Mol after a really drab 12 months, the rest is in the lap of the most fickle gods in the pantheon

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 16 August 2016 11:22 (seven years ago) link

yeah for sure, i mean the watford model is quite sensible in many ways... never know, do well enough and maybe u get to be top of the pyramid

too many more luisao type deals might be of interest to interpol tho

r|t|c, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 11:34 (seven years ago) link

don't really buy the mawson rumour, he's supposedly homesick (hillingdonLAD) so idk what appeal wwfc might have (well let's pretend) but with lynch in we don't need a first choice cb even if caulker does leave. p sure we've also had aaron pierre at wycombe lined up for months too

suspect gossip sites just copy over the names between us now to get irate clicks

r|t|c, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 11:36 (seven years ago) link

That's my guess, pick a promising youngster and perm any 3 Champo money clubs, everybody 's happy

Joe Lolley is living the dream tonight, even more so than when he met a famous miserable baldie townfan luvvie from Mirfield

calzino, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 18:35 (seven years ago) link

It sounds like we are struggling tonight. I hate it when that fucking degenerate flytipper always scores against us. Hey chin up imago :)

calzino, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 19:33 (seven years ago) link

I love Belgium

imago, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 19:40 (seven years ago) link

About as much as Kaiser Wilhelm did I'm guessing :p

calzino, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 19:55 (seven years ago) link

loooooool

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 20:33 (seven years ago) link

It sounded like we could have been down 3-0 in the first half, but cometh the hour cometh our volkisch looking R Savage alike, Hefele !

calzino, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 20:47 (seven years ago) link

Probably the hardest match we've had yet so settle for still no losses

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 16 August 2016 20:49 (seven years ago) link

If someone would have suggested 4 pts against Villa and Newcastle Utd Away I'd have demanded a steward's enquiry why we haven't got the full six :p No obv not really :p

calzino, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 20:53 (seven years ago) link

Gollini seems to have had a really great game tonight but whatever it is these players have got seems to be catching. Such a shame, it sounded like there were some very positive vibes around the ground tonight. Ayew with a shot cleared off the line, Tshibola with a header ruled out for offside, should've won it. otoh Nakhi Wells hit the post so i suppose i should be glad enough of the point

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 20:55 (seven years ago) link

i could get used to this

a) league one

b) moaners staying away

lark

imago, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 20:57 (seven years ago) link

Lol that was how I felt in league 1

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 16 August 2016 21:02 (seven years ago) link

I actually have gone through many periods of L1 and L2 nostalgia, as soon as our rich owner snuff's it we'll soon be back there. That much is guaranteed. My favourite promotion campaigns have been from L1/L2 in my lifetime, so I get ya.
