the first album is obv classic. i've worn my tape of it right out, and can never find it in uk shops for a decent price. i love the way it sounds like the exact midpoint between wu griminess and crisp prince paul poppiness. i love how schlocky it is, like a really OTT 80s slasher movie, but not in the slightest bit threatening - it's so goofy. every track is great. at the moment i'd probably say 'pass the shovel' is my favourite, it's bonkers, there's so much going on.

and grym reaper/2 poetic was a great mc, r.i.p.

I dunno. A lot of people really really like this album but I never really got into more than two or three songs. I was expecting it to be darker and creepier than it was I suppose. Any other good Horrorcore out there? I've heard the Mr Dead album but that's about it.

scotty hard - the return of kill dog e - fits the bill, as does anything by Spectre on Wordsound, dark, bass heavy. and Scotty Hard (aka Scott Harding) obv sounds similar to the 1st gravediggaz album ..

God! I bought a Spectre album after hearing some excellent dub stuff by him (or someone else under the name of Spectre). It was truly rubbish. Terrible rapping and fucking shit "beats" that kept going out of time with the music. NONONONONONO!!!

I did download a wicked horrorcore track off of MP3.com a few years back but then lost it when my computer died. I think it was either called Azrael or by Azrael. I dunno.

which spectre album ? there was another spectre doing the rounds a few years ago an i nearly made the mistake once. the spectre stuff i have is mainly instrumental with deep processed horror movie vocals .. not real raps at all.

It had a white cover with black Gothic script reading "Spectre" on the front. I sold it quickly. Wouldn't mind getting more of his dub stuff though - that's wicked shit.

yeah sounds like same Spectre .. actually i would probably like that from your description. onwards ..

i was gonna buy some Gravediggaz when I went on my post-graduation haul last week but our fucking store seems to have gotten rid of it. Douchebags.

If they had their way the store would be nothing but John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, and Ludacris.

i guess you're really ready for the graveyard tour

That first Gravediggaz was the last hiphop LP I bought as a new release. (Not to say that they were RESPONSIBLE for my diminishing interest in rap - it just turned out that way.) "Defective Trip" was superb; I can't remember much of the rest.

supposedly prince paul thought at the time that it was the best production work he had ever done, and nearly quit the music biz when it wasn't as successful as he thought it'd be.

Predating Timbaland by a decade then.

Pete is otm about Niggamortis. Dog Latin is otm about Spectre (I made the same damn mistake).

"The Pick, the Sword, and the Shovel" is also one of the best RZA productions. Although the first 2 albums are very different, both classic. If you can slsk it, find "One Life" by Last Emperor feat. Poetic. It's the last verse he did before he died, and just a beautiful piece of hip hop.

y'all UKers know that album isn't called 'Niggamortis' in the US, right?

The first Gravediggaz album is fantastic (one of the dozen best hip hop records easy.) Second has some good tracks, but really suffers from Paul's lack of involvement.

The first two Spectre albums are quite good (the second, cleverly titled The Second Coming is the better of the two) the third is pretty uneven and after that I wouldn't bother bothering (I think I have the Sensational vs. Spectre one and I seem to remember it being okay, but basically more of the same.)
